IN AT IOWA!!!! I was rejected from a few schools below Iowa, but I am in there. 2.7 with a massive upward trend, 161, URM. WOOOOOOO

I think Iowa has a hard time attracting URMs so their URM boost is a little bit bigger than its similarly ranked peers. Good job, nonetheless!

Yes, about a week after being accepted it changed to admitted. for me.

But you are probably wondering if it gives any useful information during the process. No. It does not change so you don't have to check it.

well its the midwest so I would image the following: spring= some snow, summer= rain, fall= some snow, winter=fml snow

jk, but probably fully experiences all four seasons.

It is different.

Held implies that they want to see what the applicant pool looks like before making any further decision on your application. (You app is good enough not to get an auto reject, but maybe not good enough for them to accept you until they know what the average applicant looks like).

Wait list means they don't want to reject you, but they feel they can probably get more applicants that they want to accept, so you are not going to be admitted unless a spot opens up.

No, I don't think so. Being waitlisted is an official decision, being held is not. It just means that they will review your application again at some indeterminate time in the future, and only then will you find out your fate.

Iowa said they had a 40% increase in apps this year in an email about a month ago. They are probably taking students they otherwise might have accepted and holding them to see how all the applicants turn out.

Held at Iowa as well.... I wonder if they have started to reject people, or they are just giving these deferrals out to everyone, cause it seems like a a whole batch of people got this email today.

On a more positive note, though, they didn't reject or waitlist you. This means, I think, that you still have a realistic (if not very good) shot!

JUST GOT THE EMAIL ACCEPTED AT IOWA!!!!!!!!! Is scholly info in the letter they mail you or if I didn't hear I didn't get anything?
