Different ballparks, I would expect. My impression is that the Hamilton is more to compete with Harvard than Yale, since Harvard has a similar class profile, character of student body, and admissions profiles. Or, at least much more so than Yale. However, in absolutes I'd say they'd be right around the same level of difficulty, despite the fact that a large number of Hamilton recipients opt for HYS anyway.GargamelITT wrote:is it tougher to get a hamilton than get into yale?VoidSix wrote:GeePee is mostly right, except that most Butlers are actually also in the 176-180 range and 3.6+ range. A lot of them were even like 179 / 4.0 or 177 / 4.0 types. I would imagine the Hamilton comes with some serious softs as well.
not that i'm expecting to be even in the ballpark, i'm just curious

Yeah. The Hamilton is really to steal people from HY (sometimes Stanford too). In fact, it's to steal some of the BEST HY candidates. The Butler seems to steal people from Harvard who might be looking for an excuse to go anyway, and to lock up people that might go to Chicago or NYU instead.

You don't need a Dean's Cert to go complete at CLS?violaboy wrote:Finally complete. Dear Lord, it took my school forever to send a Dean's Cert.

And that is me. NYU also wanted one. Duke accepted me before ever getting it. Guess they didn't care. My addendum spoke for itself.0L Hoping for 1 wrote:I think you do if you have any school recordoneforship wrote:You don't need a Dean's Cert to go complete at CLS?violaboy wrote:Finally complete. unless Columbia has changed something from last year you only need the Dean's Cert. to officially enroll. You don't need it to go complete.0L Hoping for 1 wrote:I think you do if you have any school recordoneforship wrote:You don't need a Dean's Cert to go complete at CLS?violaboy wrote:Finally complete. No problem. Hope it doesn't take you month and a half like it did for me. My ugrad is retarded. I emailed them asking what was up, and I got a snide call back telling me that since I had a record, I shouldn't expect things to be done quickly.

Oh, sorry about that. Well, sounded more like a bitter middle aged woman taking Prozac. There are lots of those 'round these parts.

Can someone who has already applied tell me if Columbia requests a paper or image copy of your LSAC report and app? Thanks!

Re: Columbia 2010
Does anyone know how much of an advantage applying early is? I have an LSAT at the 75th and a GPA between the 25th and median, probably at about 35th%. I loved Columbia when I went to visit but I didn't apply ED because I'm hoping to get scholarship money (not at Columbia but elsewhere). LSP has me as a "Consider" and basically a coin flip's chance. Does anyone know how much of an advantage applying early gives me? I submitted 10/3.

I think the higher you go in the rankings, the less of an advantage applying early becomes. It becomes less like "How much will applying early help me?" and more like "How much will applying late hurt me?"wackjickham wrote:Does anyone know how much of an advantage applying early is? Re: Columbia 2010
Columbia has LSAC snail-mail them a paper copy. This can take up to 9 days to receive/process. Until they have that in their hands, you're not going complete.AngryAvocado wrote:I think the higher you go in the rankings, the less of an advantage applying early becomes.
