Apparently not...joonix wrote:Has anyone here gone Decision Rendered without immediately getting an email, then been accepted?
If you get Decision Rendered but no email, is it safe to say you're dinged? I just went rendered.

IDK. At SMU "hold" meant they were holding the app to be considered with the regular decision group. Their office said that meant you were "deffered" not waitlisted.araiza99 wrote:went on "Hold" on 2/6. Is this wait list?
You may want to contact the admissions office and ask.

hold means they made a decision but they are waiting on mailing it out because they want to see what happens with the rest of the application cycle.
not sure why though and the lady on the phone didn't say, I'd call and ask them just to make sure though.

Is it just a link to the admitted students page or did they give you a log in?
That's really odd.

Just received an email inviting me to Admitted Students Preview days. I'm guessing I'm in.

Same here. Woo! I may be the lowest LSAT so far, 161 (at least on LSN).kak23 wrote:Just received an email inviting me to Admitted Students Preview days. I'm guessing I'm in.

I also got the accepted email right after the admitted students preview day email.
I didn't see anything mentioned in the email but they don't offer a travel stipend/money to visit, do they?

I couldn't find anything about a travel stipend in the admitted students page. I just saw that they had some discount rates at hotels. I hope that they have some money available. I would love to go visit. Something about Houston seems very appealing to me.

Re: In at University of Houston
I'm not sure exactly what requirements must be met to gain Texas residency, but I think I read that it usually takes longer than 1 year and is more difficult than in, say, California.
Also, in regards to travel stipends, I'm pretty sure U of H does not provide them. Their sticker is only 18,000 and change (In state). Most of the schools that are "generous" enough to provide travel stipends charge about twice that much.

I asked and they actually told me it was impossible.

Re: In at University of Houston
That's right. If you read the documentation on the U of H website, it's clear that it takes a year to gain residency, but you have to go to Texas for non-educational purposes. Good luck proving to the state of Texas that you didn't move to Houston to go to law school. There's always a loophole, though. Anyone know of a mail-order Texan bride business?A'nold wrote:kak23 wrote:Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to gain in-state residency?

Oh well, their out-of-state tuition isn't that unreasonable compared to other schools.

I went on "hold" 2/5. My status checker just changed to "in review" but kept the 2/5 date.
Has anyone that's been on hold had an outcome yet?
