Sorry if this is really ignorant--whats the etiquette on giving notice to school A of your intention to attend (+deposit) but staging on a WL of school B?

You pay the seat deposit at school A. Not sure exactly what youre asking.oliverotis wrote:Sorry if this is really ignorant--whats the etiquette on giving notice to school A of your intention to attend (+deposit) but staging on a WL of school B?

There is no etiquette... You can not be required to pull yourself off a waitlist.oliverotis wrote:Sorry if this is really ignorant--whats the etiquette on giving notice to school A of your intention to attend (+deposit) but staging on a WL of school B?

Sorry for the totally incoherent question. I guess I made it obvious this is a hypo, otherwise I would just follow instructions per the WL notificationlymenheimer wrote:You pay the seat deposit at school A. I guess i wasnt sure which direction you were aiming for. Theres no need to let the school know that youre riding a waitlist. You just pay the seat deposit at school A and ride it out at B. Unless school A asks, i supposeoliverotis wrote:Sorry for the totally incoherent question. Welp, as of today I've now been waitlisted at my top 3 and 5 of my total 11 apps.

Good luck! I sent in my 2nd LOCI yesterday to my school, 5 weeks after my first one. Trying to stay on their radar.bruceaquizzer1 wrote:Sent my LOCI in today. Fingers crossed

I'm only on one and that sucks enough, so props to you both. And an imaginary beer bought for both of you.agent_hibachi wrote:LaRetaguardia wrote:So, two more waitlists today.

Has anyone had any luck or experiences getting off of a WL by telling the school you've been accepted to higher-ranked schools or peer schools? I'm just curious.

No experience here whatsoever, but it seems like that would have the exact opposite effect for schools looking to keep admit rates low and yield rates high.Navyhornguy wrote:Has anyone had any luck or experiences getting off of a WL by telling the school you've been accepted to higher-ranked schools or peer schools? I've only ever heard of this strategy in scholarship negotiations. In that case, you're in already at both schools, its just like trying to get more $$ out of a lower schoolAnonymousPython wrote:No experience here whatsoever, but it seems like that would have the exact opposite effect for schools looking to keep admit rates low and yield rates high.Navyhornguy wrote:Has anyone had any luck or experiences getting off of a WL by telling the school you've been accepted to higher-ranked schools or peer schools? Depends on why you've been WL'd. If it's YP, then TCR is just to send a LOCI and write about specifics that make the school a good fit. If it's not YP, you can send a LOCI that does the same thing, but that also suggests that you've been admitted to XYZ other schools but that really you want to go there.zozo1717 wrote:I've only ever heard of this strategy in scholarship negotiations. Landed on my first WL today. Lame. "Priority" waitlist, fwiw. Cheers on this gloomy Friday.

I'm definitely not a YP. I've submitted two LOCIs 5 weeks apart, and I was thinking of including some higher acceptances in my last LOCI in April but I did not want it to come across the wrong way.oliverotis wrote:Depends on why you've been WL'd. Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
Didn't you apply super late? That would explain the WLs, which you probably already know. I don't think it would come across the wrong way so long as you frame it politely (i.e., "I feel very fortunate to have been offered admission at XYZ schools. However, I really want to attend school A for reasons...")Navyhornguy wrote:I'm definitely not a YP. Ironically, my WL came from my earliest application and I've had better luck since. Thanks for your advice; I think I will take it.oliverotis wrote:Didn't you apply super late? Anybody WL at Loyola (LA)? I'm not sure if YP is a thing for splitters but I'm suspicious that may be my problem. Curious if anybody wrote an LOCI and got in off the WL, and if so, how long it took.

I am really not sure how you were WL'd with your numbers at Loyola... If I remember correctly you are 167/2.5?capricasixx wrote:Anybody WL at Loyola (LA)? If you look at this graph there should be no reason for you to be WL'd:

Makes me worry about my 158/3.2 a lot more now. I have been complete since 1/5 and no movement

That's why I'm wondering if they YP... Although I would think they'd understand that my GPA makes things a little more tenuous and my acceptance is more likely than others applying with the same LSAT.kwabedi wrote:I am really not sure how you were WL'd with your numbers at Loyola... Did you write a GPA addendum? If not, that will help immensely to go along with the LOCI.capricasixx wrote:That's why I'm wondering if they YP... Ride or die on this waitlist. Nothing's worse then getting Waitlisted at your top school where two of your cousins and girlfriend got in
.... Currently Waitlisted at my top 2 schools just waiting to hear back from the last 2 schools.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
