I'm not sure if this has been addressed yet, but I received an email from admissions re: my scholarship, and the following was noted:nlee10 wrote:the old number was for the '15-'16 school year. The new number is what we'll have to pay.yunjh2725 wrote:Is it me or the tuition on Loyola's webpage went up compared to last couple of weeks...
When is our 1st deposit deadline? I thought it was like April 29th? Not the 15th?
It's the 15th if you have a scholarship!
HTH
You may accept this offer by submitting the first seat deposit of $300 online by April 29, 2016. (The second seat deposit of $500 is due June 1, 2016.) Failure to reserve the scholarship by this deadline will result in the cancellation of this offer. If you elect to submit the seat deposit after this date, you will be considered for the scholarship awards available at that time.
Just a small tid-bit.

3.7 UGPA 158 LSAT
I was assured when I called the Friday before last, March 25th, that I would have a response by tomorrow, April 8th. I have been given assurances like this before so we'll see if they honor that. Deposit dates for other schools begin next week so they certainly aren't going to give us much time to think about our options if we're accepted.
Also, just got an Email (Geragos) for some lunch meet. Is anyone going?

Speaking of money, does anyone know when we can expect more information regarding financial aid or loan eligibility?
After a quick call with the fin aid office, I was told we'd receive our $ disbursements sometime in June.

Has anyone sent their LOCI yet? I talked to the Admissions Office earlier and explained that they generally accept more students after the second deposit. Not sure if I should wait another week or so to send it in or not. She also told me that there will be one-on-one sessions/interviews with people on admissions in May.

I was told the same, but I'd already submitted my LOCI last month.Baumdiggity wrote:Has anyone sent their LOCI yet? FINALLY ADMITTED!!!!! (ugpa3.7 lsat158) It's been a long time coming. I've been offered $84,000. The seat deposit isn't due until April 29. However, they are asking for a "Scholarship Response Form" by April 15 (this Friday). I read over the paper and it's clear they are just trying to gauge your interest and use that information when considering $$$ and other applicants/waitlist and such. The 3 options you can fill out on the form are: (1. I accept the Scholarship 2. I don't accept the scholarship 3. I am still considering the scholarship). While I'm pretty interested, I don't want to give away any of my bargaining power so early in the game. As a rational consumer, I'm hoping for more money
.I also don't feel very inclined to give the admissions office such a rapid response after they took so long to admit me. My app went complete 12/14/15 and they admit me 4/13/16 and expect an optional response by 4/15/16? I think it's their turn to sit in lingo while I weigh out my options for a bit. That's why I think I'll go with option #3. Anybody have any thoughts/opinions on this matter? Anybody else fill this out already?

Better to call and ask for an extension, rather than choose #3. In my opinion.

What's wrong with choosing #3? It's not like they're going to take it away cuz you chose that.

Nickarmer, Loyola does random bumps all the way till July ish. So I wouldn't be surprised if your schollie increases to around 100k in the coming months.

ASD was great. We heard from the interim & incoming deans, some alumni, professors, and students. It was panel-style which was great because everyone was able to get any question they had answered.LShopeful2016 wrote:Anyone attend the ASD? Thoughts?
I visited UCLA earlier in the day and liked the vibe at Loyola much better. I had already made the deposit at Loyola but ASD really solidified my choice.
Let me know if you have specific questions, there was a lot of info and I'm not sure exactly what you want to know.

Aside from the generous food offerings, I got to meet a lot of admits as well as current students and faculty in that 2+ hour span so that was good. A lot more people were still deciding between schools than I thought!LShopeful2016 wrote:Hahaha completely agree!2k16L1 wrote:I think the real gem was at the very end with the dinner reception.LShopeful2016 wrote:Anyone attend the ASD? One thing I will say about ASD is that all the current students that I talked to genuinely seemed to be really happy to be at Loyola.

The concentration programs panel was the highlight of the day for me. It was really well done and they said all the right things.LShopeful2016 wrote:Anyone attend the ASD? Thoughts?
My only concern with Loyola is the location. I'd want to move closer to the school than I already am but man is that immediate surrounding area sketchy.

I'm not sure how many ASDs you've been to but they said pretty much the same as any other school.a12en wrote:The concentration programs panel was the highlight of the day for me. It was really well done and they said all the right things.LShopeful2016 wrote:Anyone attend the ASD? Thoughts?

Youre only a couple blocks from Downtown and that entire area has been gentrified. Great food and nightlife - awesome place to live as a young adult. Cops everywhere to keep Skid Row and surrounding areas in check. It's a bad situation morally speaking that just happens to work in your favor if your moving into downtown.a12en wrote:The concentration programs panel was the highlight of the day for me. If you really don't want to live in downtown, you can always commute from Mid City or even Westside if you dont mind the extra driving. I'm probably going to be commuting from the Overland exit on the 10 freeway myself but thats just cuz my living situation is too good to leave behind and I already commute to the Valley for work so driving to downtown isn't a big deal to me.
As for the recent events: The Scholarship Reception was great. The new Dean is a pretty cool guy. He did not disclose his position when he walked up and introduced himself and I didn't have any idea I had spoken with the new dean until he took the stage at the end. Preview day was awesome too. I was most impressed with Students panel. Their personal experiences highlighted the local legal community's preference for Loyola grads. LLS completely won me over.
I submitted my seat deposit on Friday.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
