1. Where do most people end up working:
a. Geographically
b. What type of job
2. Are there many international students at UIUC law?
3. If you have participated in a clinic, what was it like?
4. How has your experience been so far? What were your courses like?, Professors? Students?
5. How is the social life at college of Law the rest of the Campus and the city of Urbana/Champaign?
1a. Predominantly Chicagoland, with Stl/Indy a distant second. Others may return to their home markets.
1b. About ~20-ish % biglaw. The rest end up at mid/small firms & state gov. Very few end up in Art III clerkships. A random number
may end up in legit business positions, like at Deloitte or Guggenheim.
2. Yes, the LLM program is fairly large. Most of those students come from Asia, predominantly China. Every year, the school hosts about 15-20 visiting students from abroad. A handful of international students end up pursuing a full JD.
3. I have not, but I know those who have. All have really enjoyed the experience, although it is a fair amount of work.
4. I've enjoyed my time here. My classmates have been great, and so have the professors. The course listings are varied (at least on the course page), but the same courses tend to be offered every year with little variation. You can take classes at any of the University's departments provided that course is somehow related to the law.
5. Social life is fine: campus bars frequented by undergrads, and a downtown area frequented by grads/locals. Not a bustling metropolis, but you won't be bored.
