Really? I'm a woman, and I don't feel that way. But I guess everyone is different. I've never felt unsafe and during finals I left the law building alone at 4 and 5AM.
I am also a woman, and never felt unsafe in my years at UIUC for undergrad.

Just like any university...I wouldn't recommend walking home at 3 AM, drunk and by yourself, but I don't think the campus is unsafe, especially in the area near the law school/library.

Safety shouldn't be a factor in deciding whether or not to go to UIUC.

A few questions for any current students who feel they can answer. I may have asked some of you this over PM, but I know there are some lurkers lurking around:

1. Where do most people end up working:
a. Geographically
b. What type of job

2. Are there many international students at UIUC law?

3. If you have participated in a clinic, what was it like?

4. How has your experience been so far? What were your courses like?, Professors? Students?

5. How is the social life at college of Law the rest of the Campus and the city of Urbana/Champaign?

1a. Predominantly Chicagoland, with Stl/Indy a distant second. Others may return to their home markets.
1b. About ~20-ish % biglaw. The rest end up at mid/small firms & state gov. Very few end up in Art III clerkships. A random number may end up in legit business positions, like at Deloitte or Guggenheim.

2. Yes, the LLM program is fairly large. Most of those students come from Asia, predominantly China. Every year, the school hosts about 15-20 visiting students from abroad. A handful of international students end up pursuing a full JD.

3. I have not, but I know those who have. All have really enjoyed the experience, although it is a fair amount of work.

4. I've enjoyed my time here. My classmates have been great, and so have the professors. The course listings are varied (at least on the course page), but the same courses tend to be offered every year with little variation. You can take classes at any of the University's departments provided that course is somehow related to the law.

5. Social life is fine: campus bars frequented by undergrads, and a downtown area frequented by grads/locals. Not a bustling metropolis, but you won't be bored.

Accepted with full tuition, submitted mid Nov, accepted early-mid Jan.

Probably will end up attending as I doubt I get into any of T14 I'm waiting on...

Look forward to meeting people as I've been out of the country for 4 years and severely lacking friends/connections stateside

Obviously you have a shot. But you already made two chances threads and are now posting here. We can't tell you anything MyLSN.info can't tell you. Maybe chill.

Agreed about the thread.

In regards to the FB group doesn't the school usually create one for students? I know I've been invited to join groups at other schools I've been admitted to that also have 1L and 2L's to Anwser questions. Has anyone heard of a fb group from admissions?

No, usually a student creates it. You can let admissions know, and they'll circulate the info to everyone else.

OP, perhaps a new poll concerning Admitted students day, seat deposits or decision status would be appropriate?

My admission package finally came in the mail today. It contained more than I would have thought necessary - and I am very impressed so far!

See everyone at the Admitted Student Open House!

So it looks like flights directly into Champaign cost significantly more than flights into either Chicago or St Louis. Anyone know if there are any bus lines which can get you near the school?

You can take amtrak into downtown Champaign or there is the Illini shuttle that is a bus that takes you onto campus

Peoria Charter, usually $30 leaves from both Chicago airports drops off on campus and runs all day everyday. Check out the website.
