I don't think scholarahip info comes with the admission packets. It wasn't in mine this year or last.

Does anyone in the area have any recommendations for apartments to check out that are reasonable and affordable? Most important thing is quiet and a place that isnt infested with roaches. How are the graduate dorms? They run 1400-1700 a month which is crazy, but it is also right next to the school. Is there any possibility of a living stipend or housing waiver (partial or full) from the university? If this happens there has to be a way to make it affordable.

Going to visit the area around christmas to check it out (family in RI).

I live in Boston (down the street from BU law actually) and you can absolutely live off campus and take the T to school every day. Boston is not exactly cheap, but it's not as expensive as most cities. You can find an apartment with other BU students/grad students in Allston or Brighton for under $900/month. Very doable without staying in graduate dorms.

Is living with a roommate almost required for affordable living? Living alone would be preferable but I am open to roommates depending on the situation. Thanks for the tips.

How far of a commute is it from those places?

It's hard to find something affordable living by yourself. I live in a very small studio in Brighton 15 minutes from BU law and it costs about $1200.

The commute will depend entirely on where you live in Allston and Brighton. As long as you're on the T, it shouldnt take more than 20 minutes, give or take. Live by the T, it will make you life 100x easier. You can PM if you want more specific answers about Boston living.

1L here popping in during a study break.

Living with a roommate is the best possible situation. If you want to live alone, you can but it will be significantly more expensive than living with someone. Living with someone you can get an apartment in allston/brighton or even fenway for ~$900 or less/month, for comparison I live in a one bedroom for ~$1800/month. Once the FB group for admits starts in Spring, its not too hard to find roommates if you want one. Keep in mind the posted COA is based $900/month in rent. (I'm pretty sure that's the number they told us.)

As far as commute time, you can walk from Fenway to BU in under 15 min. T from allston/brighton takes the same time depending on the green line timeliness which is always iffy.

How much would it cost to ride public transportation every day? I remember in Tokyo there are monthly deals between certain stations that are a flat rate (ex, 200/month for X station to Y station).

Monthly subway pass (which includes local buses) costs $75/mo. That's absolutely the only form of transportation you'll need. There are stops everywhere.

I checked several times (read that often, almost incessantly). My status checker never changed, as a matter of fact I received the call and still have not had my status checker change. I was RD too by the way.

If you submitted in October and haven't gotten a complete date, you should contact them or at least check your LSAC stuff. Maybe you are waiting for Dec LSAT scores? Or are scheduled for Feb? I haven't really heard of anybody not going complete fairly quickly. Mostly, it's going complete and nothing changing for forever.

You may be right. It says I am complete, just no date. I will try and call them in the morning.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
