Hey guys, I'm a 1L just about to finish my first semester here at Fordham. Let me know if you guys have any questions. This forum was helpful to me when I was applying earlier in the year.

Second complete but no decision. Is this normal? How many completes before a decision?

Status updates a lot - a lot of people saw movement like 4-5 times. The adcomm reached out to me via email and asked for clarification on one part of my application, and I noticed a status date change on that same day after I had supplied the requested information. I would take it as a pretty neutral sign. Not good, not bad, just means the adcomm is in your app.MidwestNYC wrote:Second complete but no decision. Is this normal? A good portion of Fordham pays virtually near sticker - Fordham is infamously stingy with scholarships (this is not my opinion, this is well-known fact amongst law schools that Fordham doesn't give great scholarships). I scored median GPA/LSAT and got 60k combined (20k per year) compared to Boston University and Boston College which gave me 90k. Tuition is about 54 per year = 162k total cost w/o living expenses. My scholarship brings it down to 102, again w/o living expenses.splitterfromhell wrote:Would Fordham be worth it at sticker?ku546 wrote:Hey guys, I'm a 1L just about to finish my first semester here at Fordham. Is it worth it? I want to say no because if you're not in the top 1/4th, you are not eligible for Big Law recruiting. Might as well go to Brooklyn Law on a full scholarship, get a 4.0 and then try to transfer.

Did you try to negotiate scholarship money at Fordham using the money you were offered at BU and BC as leverage? I haven't heard about $$ from BC or BU yet but I'm just trying to be optimistic/plan ahead.ku546 wrote:A good portion of Fordham pays virtually near sticker - Fordham is infamously stingy with scholarships (this is not my opinion, this is well-known fact amongst law schools that Fordham doesn't give great scholarships). Yes. I hired a professional negotiator to help have Fordham match BU and BC. Fordham stated they will not match. My negotiator warned me upfront that getting Fordham to match will be unlikely.girlgoestolawschool wrote:Did you try to negotiate scholarship money at Fordham using the money you were offered at BU and BC as leverage? Currently a 2L and I can personally tell you those biglaw recruiting numbers are wrong. You are eligible for biglaw recruiting regardless of where you finish. It is true that finishing top 1/4 gives you a decent shot at biglaw. However, I finished top 1/3 and did quite well at OCI's.ku546 wrote:A good portion of Fordham pays virtually near sticker - Fordham is infamously stingy with scholarships (this is not my opinion, this is well-known fact amongst law schools that Fordham doesn't give great scholarships). Fordham is stingier, but they also place better than BU and BC (both are schools I turned down for Fordham). I mean technically, according to the 2014 numbers, Fordham was 20th in biglaw placement (behind BU at 19th and ahead of BC at 21st in terms of class percentage), but those numbers don't tell the whole story.
Fordham is a large school and places around 120 of its students each year in biglaw (as opposed to BC and BU which place around 60-70). They've also decreased their class size which I believe has led to a higher percentage of its students getting biglaw jobs. You'll have to wait for the official numbers to confirm this, but my experience suggests that this is true since I am not a brilliant interviewer, I did not bid particularly well at OCI's, and yet I found myself with many biglaw opportunities. I also know of several others with similar experiences.
