Couldn't meet my interviewer during the week. Agreed to meet me on a Sunday under the condition that "we dress Saturday casual. I'll sneak out when my kids are napping." No better words to hear.

Bwahaha, you're following me around - and my interview, too, is at a coffee shop.gunton224 wrote:Mine is for a Thursday at 7am at some coffee shop. I'm going with a suit. Considering a lighter grey rather than a more formal navy blue or dark grey, but still a suit nonetheless.

Y'all, chill on the suits for the alumni interviews. If it is with an older attorney, then perhaps put on a a sport jacket, but a good pair of slacks and a button down will be perfectly fine.

3L still here to answer any questions. Just make sure to quote me so it notifies me that someone asked me a question, otherwise I'll probably forget to check this thread.

Well personally I have a job, so obviously glad about that. As far as my class as a whole, it's a mixed bag. About half the class summered at a firm, but I don't know how many got no-offered. Also don't know how many have found other jobs, etc. Im pretty sure we've done better than previous years have. Also depends on the market your interested in.jlaw20161 wrote:Thanks for checking in- how do you feel about your job prospects heading toward graduation?arklaw13 wrote:3L still here to answer any questions. I mean the environment is supposedly less competitive (although I obviously can't say from experience), but the grading system is the same as everywhere else. The curve is about as generous as it gets among T20 schools. It's definitely not a cutthroat type place, but I'm sure everyone would say that about their school.SirArthurDayne wrote:Can you talk about the grading system? I know Vanderbilt is unique in that you're not competing as much with your classmates as you would be at other schools, or this is what I've heard. My interviewer mentioned this.arklaw13 wrote:3L still here to answer any questions. Grades are still grades, and there is a lot of pressure to do well, especially if you are interested in Biglaw/AIII clerkships. That being said, the curve is generous, and has gotten more so in recent years (I graduated as the last class totally on the "old curve") and there is no ranking. This makes group studying less stressful (I felt) since you are not worried about where you will fall on a list vis a vis your peers.SirArthurDayne wrote:Can you talk about the grading system? Vanderbilt doesn't have an ED option.

I recall seeing somewhere that if you don't hear from your interviewer within 2 weeks of requesting an interview that you ought to reach out to VLS, but I cannot find this anywhere now.
Can someone confirm? Today is the 13th day since I requested and I haven't heard anything.

Yeah, that's right. There's an email in your initial interview confirmation that you can message if it's been two weeks.
I'm still waiting on my interview too. Guessing things are just picking up for them so the turnaround is slowing down.

Had my alumni interview today, very similar to previous posts here. Very conversational and almost like being recruited. "Why Vandy/law" never came up. I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

3L and current award recipient here. I would encourage everyone to apply for them. I never thought my numbers would be competitive when I applied, but with every school's medians dropping each year, you could be pleasantly surprised.slizerd wrote:How many of y'all are applying for the merit awards?
