Application went from com review to Hold today. Got an email saying they'll review it as other apps come in... Thought my GPA would have helped me get in.

Wow that is surprising, you hit all their averages...

I submitted my application late October and was able to use the express decision since I'm a current gator. However, my app just got put on hold today. So I'm kind of confused because I understood I'd get a decision within the 15 business days. I'm debating on retaking the LSAT in February so my app will look better. I got a 154 and have a 3.83 GPA. I'm not trying to get a scholarship, I just want to get in. I also submitted 3 LORs and my resume looks pretty decent since I interned at a law firm over summer. Thoughts?

I was also put on hold. 154/3.84. Since my LSAT is low for them, I'm happy to still be in consideration.

3.4x and highest LSAT 160. Contemplating an application to this school. I seem to be around median GPA and above median LSAT for the 2 most recent years. At 75th LSAT if you consider the fall 2015 entering data. Aside from my love of the climate, I have no family ties to Florida and have never even been there.
Based on numbers, I predict that I should get in...but the comments of some applicants in this thread are very discouraging.

I should mention that I'm out of state. Went to UG in the NE area and am originally from Atlantic Canada, so I have no US citizenship or anything. Still the tuition at University of Florida, even for OOS'ers is hard to beat. Will they discriminate against me because I'm not a Florida resident?thriller1122 wrote:Can't hurt especially if you get a fee waiverduras9992 wrote:3.4x and highest LSAT 160. I'm in the same boat. 154 and a 3.9 with an extensive resume and graduating a year early which is why i couldn't study for it. Don't think I'm going to re-take it, though. They did say they would have an answer by early spring...

Probably not the place for this, but not retaking a 154 LSAT with a 3.9 gpa is pure madness if you're serious about becoming a lawyer in today's legal economy.umiamilife wrote: I'm in the same boat. 154 and a 3.9 with an extensive resume and graduating a year early which is why i couldn't study for it. Um, i think it's quite premature to say something like that without having any idea of the extenuating circumstances or background information. To be a lawyer you must pass the Bar. The LSAT is not the end all be all.

Umiamilife, you should consider applying to FSU. I have identical numbers to you and was "hold" at UF and accepted at FSU. Good luck!umiamilife wrote:Cubank wrote:Probably not the place for this, but not retaking a 154 LSAT with a 3.9 gpa is pure madness if you're serious about becoming a lawyer in today's legal economy.umiamilife wrote: I'm in the same boat. 154 and a 3.9 with an extensive resume and graduating a year early which is why i couldn't study for it. Re: University of Florida Levin College of Law c/o 2019
I called admissions to ask if it was recommended to retake it with the hold status and then got transferred to the director and he said it isn't looked down upon if you don't. He said it won't have any negative effect whatsoever. However, I did Testmasters prep and I've been exposed to pretty much every single LSAT problem from the late 90s to now. So I don't even know how I'd prepare properly with problems I've already worked on. The admissions lady also said the latest I'd get a response is April, so there would still be time to retake it. I just don't know if it's the best idea considering the test prep material issue and I have no idea how intense my classes will be in the spring.umiamilife wrote:manda94 wrote:I submitted my application late October and was able to use the express decision since I'm a current gator. Hey, thanks! Oh that's great, congrats! That's interesting since FSU has higher stats than UF? I'm already solid with Miami and I know my stats are low but I'm graduating a year early, running my own foundation, chair of multiple large organizations so i think that might pay off for UF. Im only trying to get in. I don't need a scholarship. If i had the time, I would re-take it 100% there just are so many other factors.. I've definitely done my research, though. Not going to make rash decisions. Thank you!

I really would retake it, but I don't have the time to get a 160+. I could probably go up maybe 2-3 points. If I get into UF my student loans would be way under 100k thankfully. I might just get back to studying and register for it just in case and see where I'm testing at when it gets closer to February and decide then.AF_Falcon wrote:Those of you who have 3.8+ GPAs and mid 150 LSAT scores, you absolutely should retake the LSAT. Just put the time and effort into getting into the mid 160s. I truly think anyone with enough prep can get a 160+ on the LSAT. 170 and above is a different matter. With your GPAs and a LSAT score above the 75th percentile at UF, you're probably looking at a full ride. I had a 3.0 in undergrad but with my LSAT score was able to get a 75% tuition scholarship. Do not accept taking out $100K plus in student loans when you could easily cut that in half or more with some solid LSAT prep. Would suck now but pay off a lot in the long run. You would basically be wasting your amazing undergrad GPA. Just some advice from someone who sees my airmen make bad financial decisions all the time.

I checked my status today and it says I am on hold. Does anyone know what this means? I looked on the website on it seems like it might be a bad thing??? I am really surprised considering I have a 158 LSAT and 3.8 so I thought I fit right in.

What exactly does it say? I've not heard of "hold" as the status on the checker. Everyone has gone through comparative review (that's where it stays the longest usually) and is not abnormal.herewego321 wrote:I checked my status today and it says I am on hold.
