And seriously, bless them for this. At least for me, William & Mary bought a ton of goodwill by not stringing everything out.lawandorder2019 wrote:I don't think you can see the info online, but yes scholarship info comes with the acceptance package. Anyone know typically if William & Mary is at least open to scholarship negotiation?

I have been there a couple of times (had friends who were there- some law some undergrad) and it's a beautiful town (avoiding using the word city since it's quite small) but there really isn't too terribly much going on there. If you are looking for a bustling area then make sure you spend some time in Williamsburg before you decide to acceptjoeycxxxx09 wrote:Has anyone visited? Thoughts? I submitted my app last Thursday and I'm still incomplete. Doesn't seem normal given how quick their turnaround time is?

Accepted by email this morning! I went complete a week ago so I'm rather surprised by the quick turnaround.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they offer that really. They're a bit stingy with money because they're a state school and already pretty cheap.pleadthafif wrote:Checked their 509 report and there are 0 students receiving Full Tuition or More than Full Tuition, what's up with that?

Yeah, I visited a few friends at the law school there...it's a very small town. There aren't too many bars, in fact I remember hearing that one of the bars is also a mixed sandwich restaurant? The law school building itself is also pretty small, but very nice. Like a previous poster said, if you are wanting a big city with a lot of things going on, Williamsburg isn't the right place for you. But, if you are looking for a college town that is relatively quiet, definitely consider W&M.joeycxxxx09 wrote:Has anyone visited? Thoughts? Definitely in my top 5 list right now

My friend who went there said it's a "great place to lock yourself in a library" because there are no distractions. He did well enough to get a pretty sweet clerkship.GrandJC wrote:Yeah, I visited a few friends at the law school there...it's a very small town. But Richmond is an hour away. Charlottesville is 2. DC is 2 1/2. They're definitely close enough to get away for a weekend if you get claustrophobic.

But, the distance makes it pretty difficult to grab coffee and network during the week. Locked in the library seems credited 1L, but after that networking is pretty important I feel like. Especially if you are not going to be one of the lucky ones who snatch the BL jobs.
Do we have any idea the number of firms that come to OCI? Are there big firms in Virginia? Or is it mostly just DC? If there are Virginia firms are they very tie-sensitive? Is law school attendance in the state enough?
[I'm posting in here because I don't see a 'Ask a W&M Grad thread' hopefully some grads or current students drop by.]

I'm worried about the network thing as well, I feel like being isolated could be a disadvantage as we start looking for jobs. That's why I want to get a feel of the reputation of W&M in VA and beyond. But I did see that there is an amtrak station in williamsburg which I definitely like if I didn't want to drive to D.C.

I dunno about the relative strength of their OCI program, but it looks like about 10% of people get jobs through OCI-https://law.wm.edu/careerservices/emplo ... report.pdfmornincounselor wrote:But, the distance makes it pretty difficult to grab coffee and network during the week. They have a pretty crazy % of people getting clerkships or government jobs, though. If your goal is a top law firm, that's not the worst route to take.

I am curious about the law school building. You hear "oldest law school in the country" and you can't help but think "facilities not updated in the last 50 years". Would you consider it relatively modernized? Accessible outlets, etc? How's tourist season?

virtual tour makes it seem not that old, but not that new either.CJRpnw wrote:
