do those who have already had JS1s get earlier decisions? or are they higher up on WL?Mack.Hambleton wrote:ThanksEladriel wrote:Beginning of May.Mack.Hambleton wrote:Roughly when did JS1 for waitlisters go out last year

Earliest Report of a WL ----> JS1 was May 6, 2014:hermione1000 wrote:do those who have already had JS1s get earlier decisions? or are they higher up on WL?

And as for your second question, anything more than what Pylon said would require inside info:
pylon wrote:*Re-posted here from the Applicant thread
Once again sorry/congrats to those who were WL'd these past few days!
Here is some information I hope you find useful, gathered from last-years thread. This gives some insight into the differences of WL before or after a JS1.
In 2013-14, there were 101 WL reported on TLS. Of these, 63 had not received JS1s prior to the WL, whereas 38 had already received JS1s.
Complete -> WL
Of the 63 reported, 22 received JS1s and 12 of those then received JS2s. Only 3 reported outright rejections. So, 35% received JS1s, and in total, 19% received JS2s. However of those that received JS1s, 55% eventually received JS2s.
Complete -> JS1 -> WL
Of the 38 reported WL who already had JS1s, 10 received JS2s. Only 3 reported outright rejections. For this group, 26% received acceptances.
Most individuals who ended up getting accepted off the WL found out in mid-to-late May, however acceptances did trickle out throughout the summer until August.

Checking in on the WL train!
Are any of you fantasizing about ways to dramatically increase the strength of your application in the next 30 days lol I'm a KJD so I'm investigating fancy summer jobs to maybe nail down some more WE. Any of y'all have similar plans?

Thoughts on whether you should include the text of your LOCI in the body of an email or format it like a cover letter and attach it separately?

JS1 12/20, JS1b on Tuesday, Numbers in the spreadsheet under Dawg.
Almost half a year in waiting, but it is totally worth it. Good luck to the ppl in this thread!!!!!
And the movement we saw in 2014 was early compared to 2013. So it looks like we're waiting until May for anything.

I saw a better definition in the HLS 2017 WL thread and am still looking for it.
Edit: Found it:

Draw - the "homework" is an email that we were asked to send within 24 hours stating whether or not we can commit right now to attending Harvard.

Hey guys,
Waitlisted last week and I am a reverse splitter, so I will be retaking the LSAT in june. What's your opinion on letting admissions know that I will be retaking?
Thx!

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2018 Waitlist
We owe a debt to LS22 and Draw from last year for explaining so much in the 2014 WL thread. For those of you too lazy to read it:
1. JS1 ---> WL ---> JS1B ---> JS2
2. Straight to WL ---> JS1 ---> "homework" ---> JS2
So if we assume this year is like last year there are two paths to a JS2 off of the waitlist depending upon where you started:drawstring wrote:In last year's spreadsheet all but one person who reported a JS2 also reported a JS1b, while this cycle all who reported apre-WL JS1 ---> WL JS2 have had a JS1B .radikal_eyes wrote:Do all JS2s off the WL receive a JS1b?
There have been post-WL JS1s---->JS2s this cycle who reported getting in without the typical JS1b call, but they did have the 'homework' which is very similar.

Hey, does anyone have any insight into why people have different waitlist messages? I don't have any of that language about not sending stuff in.

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2018 Waitlist
IIRC, OP was mistaken when saying the language of the waitlist email said not to send anything. It is just the general impression that Harvard doesnt need to know that you want to attend (because everyone wants to) but only cares if you have significant updates to your resume (new grades for KJDs, new job/promotion, publication, etc.)

The email did not include that message, but the page that came up when you completed the "survey" included it.
