Just have to find cash for that flight from CA, hah. Trying to make the February one. Buy you a few beers if you're available Cricket.cricketlove00 wrote:There are three this year. Two of them are on Fridays and one is on a Saturday. I don't know what the plan is this year, but with the Friday ones, you may have the opportunity to sit in on a class, which I highly recommend.Shirosham wrote:Ah, very nice. Time to start looking for flights again -.-LVbucknell wrote:I think there are three different ones. I'm going the last weekend in February.Shirosham wrote: When is that?
For everyone who got in, admitted students day is a GREAT way to meet people and get a real feel for the school. Some of the people I met that day are my closest friends and gave me some awesome advice that I couldn't live without.
Congrats to all the acceptances!

Do any current students know anything about the environmental law program at Wake Forest? I want to specialize in Water Law, but I haven't been able to find much information about those speciality programs at wake forest.

I finally got my acceptance packet in the mail, but no scholly info. Are they sent separately or am I just SOL for scholarships? Sorry if this was already covered.

In the acceptance email, Dean Shively mentioned something about forwarding him any offers that "you think we should discuss".
Trying to figure out which echelon of schools he is talking about. I received a $30K/year offer yesterday from Baylor but not sure if Wake considers them a peer school or if that is worth forwarding. Anyone have any advice on that?

I just forwarded every offer I've gotten regardless of ranking. It can't hurt to include everything.

Quick question (not that I would even attempt this): But how would colleges know you're other offers if you didn't tell them? Like, is there some sort of database where they can see your offers to catch any liars that attempt to squeeze more money out of them?

I think you might be asked to verify the information officially.
I know what some people might be thinking, but don't do

I just scanned every scholarship letter and attached them as PDFs. The schools need verification

I know at the undergraduate level, admission counselors often know each other, especially at "peer" schools. It's easy for them to call up and ask about what a student with certain stats might have been offered and they can unofficially verify through those channels. Don't know if it's the same on the law school side, but it would stand to reason they are probably pretty familiar with what other schools are offering based on where you stand academically.ilikebaseball wrote:Quick question (not that I would even attempt this): But how would colleges know you're other offers if you didn't tell them? I wouldn't try to pull as fast one.

So I just got an email from Wake and they said they are "solidifying our scholarship plan and will be in touch with you the week of February 9th." I'm not sure if that's just for me because I did just send them my other scholly offers for them to consider or they're whole scholarship timeline might have been pushed back a week. Just wanted to keep people a heads up, so we won't get heartbroken on the 5th if scholarships aren't there.

Nice catch. Got the same thing there as an admitted student. Guess I'll have to go back and keep checking it to see when they input the scholly amount.

So the consensus is to reach out to admissions with your other offers? Instead of responding to their offer? How does one go abot doing this in an advantageous way? I've read on negotiations but typically it seems that method is effective in response to their initial offer. I'm hesitant to initiate this process but I feel like I need to...

I gave them the offers I had to-date, but I knew I was still going to be getting more. So I gave them offers hoping that'll push to give me a big offer and then after I get more, I'll possibly counter-offer them.JerryLundegard wrote:So the consensus is to reach out to admissions with your other offers? I just visited the school and spoke to them about scholarships. I was there Jan 30, and they said that scholarships were almost all decided. I also resent another email and got a response that they are no longer monitoring the email given to reply with scholarship offers.JerryLundegard wrote:Could you PM me how you went about it? "Scholarship notifications are scheduled to be sent Thursday, February 5 via email and via USPS on February 10. We will begin review of any reconsideration forms the next week. Reconsideration forms will be included along with your notification letter.
In the meantime we will not be reviewing additional scholarship information submitted as the award grid has been established and any awards are forthcoming."
Hope this answers any questions...

Did anyone else have the status "your file is under review" and then it changed to " your file is under committee review" later? Did not know if there was actually any difference between the two or not.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
