Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
Even though most of the individuals on this thread seem to have already completed and even sent their Yale applications; I am still working on mine. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or thoughts on the topic for the 250 essay by any chance? Nothing seems to be good enough and I cannot find any good examples except very few.
Thank you

Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
Anyone (though I guess maybe this would only be prior-year applicants) know anything about the YLS webinars? Are they helpful enough to justify taking an hour out of my workday? Just got the email invite (looks like it's only alumni of certain schools, so hopefully that doesn't cause mass panic...)
Re the 250 question, dude, there's an entire thread and section of this website devoted to the 250.

I registered for one but did not "attend" as it was during my workday as well. But you can watch them later if you register. It didn't look helpful at all TBH.middlebear wrote:Anyone (though I guess maybe this would only be prior-year applicants) know anything about the YLS webinars? I "attended" one. It was helpful for me, but most of the information you can find on the website. The Dean does answer questions, though, so if you have any you can't find the answer to on their website, I think it's useful.middlebear wrote:Thanks!lc39 wrote:I registered for one but did not "attend" as it was during my workday as well. Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
From what Asha said re college activities and resumes:
Since I'm only one year out of school, everything from resume except my current job would go under college activities. Should I submit a resume that includes my current work only? Or should I add it somewhere else in the application and not include a resume?
http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissi ... tters.aspx5. You must answer Question 5a-c (honors, extracurriculars, employment during school), even if you are including a resume. Please. We won't complete your application without these answers. Many of you spend a lot of time (based on the questions we get in the office) wondering whether to answer these in bullet format, or in a little spreadsheet, or some other manner. Really, it just needs to be readable. Bullets are fine. If there is some honor or activity that isn't self-explanatory or on which you feel you need to elaborate further, a short narrative is OK.
6. OK, I'm going to get dicey here and, after the overwhelming response to my post on proper punctuation, I have a feeling this might get controversial. If you do include a resume (which we don't require), it should be one page. This is standard business practice, unless you're an academic with a lot of publications to your name which might take several pages to list. Now, this isn't a job application, and I'm sure we admit many people every year who have multiple-page resumes, so it's not an application-killer. But from a practical perspective, I'll note that it's really a lot easier to read a one-page resume and to see your life highlights at a glance. If you're concerned that you won't be able to fit everything you want to show on one page -- voila! We have a question on our application just for you -- Question 5a-c (see above).

Hey do we have some YLS current/former students on TLS who took multiple LSATs?

MistakenGenius, but they were all within Yale's range (I think all were above median).Seoulless wrote:Hey do we have some YLS current/former students on TLS who took multiple LSATs?

I know of a multiple taker 168/177 who got in, 2 years out of school with public interst experience post UG. There are no real hard cut offs, you just need to have a good life story and an explanation for the uptick (eg., travel, illness, family issues, etc.)

Submitted! I spent waaaaaay too long honing my 250, considering Yale is the reachiest of reaches, but I'm actually really happy with it. I would be interested in sharing 250s, after the cycle is over.

for those starting their 250 essays
I should have written my 250 on the typos in their blog post. "Quintessestial"? That would be an auto-admit, for sure.

Would anyone be willing to swap 250s? Or take a look at mine?
I think I like it, but I want to get an outside opinion--and damn it's hard to keep it under 250!

Yeah I may have spent more time on my 250 than on my PS. If my Yale Mary is caught I might share mine too. I just submitted tonight and man it feels great to be DONE with LS apps.NimChimpsky wrote:Submitted! I had a lot of fun with my 250, surprisingly.

Why isn't Yale's big law+fed clerkship percentage higher?
http://www.businessinsider.com/law-scho ... ms-2013-12
I'm guessing its a matter of self selection. Yale has by far the biggest fed clerkship percentage. The remaining are far more likely to lead NGOs, get high ranking PI etc?

Did you guys double space your College Activities document? Bullet points double-spaced looks so awkward, but I know TCR is generally to double space everything except your resume?

Double spaced ONLY my personal statement. The 250, college activities and post college activities look hella weird double spaced.blueberrycrumble wrote:Did you guys double space your College Activities document? I did not. I double spaced my 250 and PS, but not my resume or either my college activities or post college activities documents.blueberrycrumble wrote:Did you guys double space your College Activities document?
