Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
for the off campus interviewees, are there options for weekend interviews?
if not, I don't think I can have an interview at all. I def can't schedule a Skype call at the office, and can't go to campus. I work full time.

It's a lot easier to apologize for wearing a jacket+tie then wearing jeans. A suit can very easily be remedied to be more casual: taking off the coat is a major move.smile0751 wrote:In business school, we were always told it's no big deal to over dress, but it can be a major faux pas to under dress.

Checking in...just scheduled my interview in NYC. Definitely a reach school with my numbers but hoping to win some points with a few years of unique work experience.

Any point in writing a 'Why NU' essay if I apply ED?
I think I might write my PS on a topic that overlaps with a diversity theme, in which case I wouldn't write a DS either. I just feel kind of bad not doing any of the optional essays.

Does anyone happen to know if binding ED applies to Canada as well? For example, if I were to ED NU and get accepted, then choose not to matriculate, does that prevent me from accepting an offer in Canada?
I'm still very much having the Canada vs US debate with myself, though ED NU would be a very attractive US 1st choice if I could still keep Canada as an option.
Second question - if the answer to the above is that binding ED does indeed apply to Canadian schools, what are the scholarship prospects at NU like for RD applicants?

I can't imagine it not having the same implications.P.J.Fry wrote:Does anyone happen to know if binding ED applies to Canada as well? For example, if I were to ED NU and get accepted, then choose not to matriculate, does that prevent me from accepting an offer in Canada?

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
I think you should. Although EDing NU is a pretty clear sign to the school that it is your first choice, I think it still helps to demonstrate to the school why it is your first choice. It shouldnt take you more than a couple of hours to research and write a Why NU so I don't think the negatives of writing ones possibly outweigh the positive effect it could have on your chances.suppy183 wrote:Any point in writing a 'Why NU' essay if I apply ED?

Figured as much. That would have been a pretty amazing option had it not.smccgrey wrote:I looked into this for obvious reasons and it definitely still applies. I think NU has a good track record with schollies, especially if you'd otherwise have a decent chance at getting in ED

Fireworks can be viewed at Navy Pier from that building twice a week. It is a gorgeous display.theramblingfool wrote:App not submitted yet (probably sometime this week) but I had my admissions interview yesterday, and I went on a guided tour of the campus and I was very impressed.
The view from upper levels over Lake Michigan was outstanding. Watching students studying with that backdrop was beckoning me to the school, haha. Also, the tour of their legal clinic was very impressive. They seem to put a lot into making theirs stand out, and it definitely showed. Nothing that would affect your L1, but a strong consideration nonetheless.

I still wrote one - it can't hurt and is only requested to be around two paragraphs long.ChemEng1642 wrote:Checking in!
Also question - is it reasonable not to write a "Why Northwestern?" essay if I've already signed up for an interview slot?

I also did the on campus interview last cycle and would be willing to help out anyone with questions. Will be reapplying again so I hope my answers are even better this time around :p

Applied. Skype interview scheduled for next week. It will actually be my first real interview of this whole application process. I had an 'interview' with a Vandy alum, but that was a lot more casual than I imagine this will be. :/

Did both and it definitely is much more formal than Vandy. There's a question handbook from Northwestern floating around here somewhere though that helps alot.NimChimpsky wrote:Applied. This is my top choice school and I will piss buckets of rainbows and butterflies if they admit me. 2.4/172 here so it's a long shot, 1 year WE.
