This list consists of a group of strong candidates for whom there currently is no space available in our entering class. Openings can occur at any time during the summer, including late August. However, because of the late date, deferments of admission will not be available to people admitted from the waiting list.



If you would like your application to remain active as part of our waiting list, please email us at jdadmissions@cornell.edu within two weeks with the address, phone number, and email that you would like us to use to contact you throughout the summer. Please note that we are asking you to respond to us with regard to this updated decision, and if we do not hear back from you, we will assume you have made others plans and will withdraw your file from further consideration.

We encourage you to send us any additional information, such as spring semester grades and additional faculty or employer recommendations that you believe would be helpful to the Committee in arriving at a favorable decision in your case. If at any time you are unavailable to respond to an offer of admission, be sure that someone at your address is authorized to act for you by sending us a $900 registration deposit.

Technically, they do not say the class is full. Rather, there is no space available (yet) for people on the waitlist. To me this just sounds like boilerplate waitlist language and, by itself, is not reason to think we should be expecting bad news.

However, the fact that in previous years Cornell has admitted a few from reserve before sending out WL/dings is cause for some concern.

I really like the way you think. It seems like the summer waitlist is necessary in case of the possibilities of reserve --> admits denying the acceptance for a prior deposit. Hopefully hovering in reserve purgatory is a good thing.

Also, based on who has been dinged/WL'd so far, it seems like they're looking to round out their class by favoring a higher GPA versus a higher LSAT that accompanies a lower GPA.

I actually think it may be beyond a numbers game at this point. ManOfTheHour has better stats than me and he was dinged. I think URM status, softs, recommendations, and maybe even origin have a sizable role at this point.

To my knowledge, there have been no acceptances yet from reserve. This is based just on TLS and LSN, though.

Looks like on last year's thread the first reserve --> acceptances came out around 4 pm on a Friday...hoping the trend holds and we all get good news very soon
