I applied almost a week after you did, also a non-trad, also from a similar UG. Might be something to that.klondike5 wrote:Yeah it was the same letter, and after looking at LSN a little more I think it may have something to do with the date when I applied (late). I'm not worried too much about it, just a little surprised. Virginia is supposed to be for lovers, but they aren't showing me any love - waitlisted or held at Mason, W&L and W&M. I genuinely thought I had a shot at all of them, especially George Mason, but such is life. Good luck to those left standing and those riding the waitlist.JazzieShizzle wrote:Hey! I got my letter today too! Did they tell you are a "very strong applicant"? I think it's kinda a crap shoot who gets in when there are so many applicants coming in right around median. Don't let it bother you. I don't even mind- I already decided I wasn't going to go there, so it's cool that they don't really want me there either lolklondike5 wrote:Waitlisted via regular mail today. Applied 1/25 and complete 1/29 numbers in my profile. Honestly its a bit of a surprise, according to LSN people are getting in with both numbers lower than mine and some are even getting money, though some with higher numbers than mine are getting the WL too.
Congrats to everyone else
What I'm seeing on LSN is that GMU seems to have roughly a 161/3.0 floor. Looks like the only way to get accepted if one of those numbers is below the floor is to do significantly better on the other score or be a URM. In other words, they're being very splitter and reverse splitter friendly. You and I are both above one value (but not significantly) and we fall just slightly below the other, so we got waitlisted. Seems like they're trying to bump their numbers, but focusing more on the LSAT.
Will you be waiting out any of the waitlists? I'm withdrawing from GMU. Good luck to you, and anyone else with an app still pending or waitlisted!
