Grendel's is great! Has anybody's status checker not been updating? I sent in my college certification, final transcript, and seat deposit. I called and they said they had received my college cert. A week later, my status check hasn't updated at all.

Anyone know if it's possible to register for Admitted Students Weekend via email/phone call? I really want to attend the first ASW but haven't received my HLS email yet so can't register on the website. (Admitted 2/5). Seems like it takes a few weeks for people to receive their HLS email after admission, from what I've read in the threads.

If only. Their need form is pretty detailed, and you also have to submit your parents' W2 forms and signed copies of their 1040s. There seems to be a simpler form for people who know that they won't get grants, though.az21833 wrote:when does hls usually get pack to kids with aid packages? is it just fafsa and need thats required?

Didn't realize until just now that both parents' information is required even if they're divorced. It's bad enough trying to get my mom to do her taxes before April, and she's the responsible one. The nightmare begins

My divorced parents are equally disorganized -- they both usually file in August...sabanist wrote:Didn't realize until just now that both parents' information is required even if they're divorced. If combined parental income is $200k+ there's no point in me filling out

Might not, haven't looked too deep into their specific requirements, just assumed they did since that's what Stanford needs. Edited my post to clarify.trojandave wrote:Does HLS require NeedAccess?? I didn't see them on the list of schools

When I talked to Harvard's financial office in January, they said they are doing their own system this year, so no need access. This is the page to go to: https://myfaid.law.harvard.edu/NetPartn ... gHome.aspx

I went through the whole thing last week. You fill out a preliminary form and your answers to that form determine what other forms you fill out. I already had all the info I needed b/c of Need Access (terrible, btw). Basically know everything about yourself and your parents (income, home price/payment, cars, retirement plan, and tax forms). Like I said, a lot of it overlaps with Need Access. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.az21833 wrote:has anybody gone through the process yet and can share some insight? assume you get your HLS email and pin emailed to you shortly after admission?

They do require your parents' signed 1040s and w2s. The best way to do this is electronically through their secure upload system. They don't ask for your tax forms at all (kinda weird, but they explain by saying they base it off of your summer income and other things...).az21833 wrote: doesnt sound too bad. do they require we send in signed 1040s or w2s or anything. im still waiting on my parents to file 2012 so iv been sending 2011 to places

Any more about the secure upload? Is that like the FAFSA where you pull the info directly from the online record of their filing?yarsten wrote:They do require your parents' signed 1040s and w2s. That would make my life so much easier, haha.
The thing that really sucks is that my parents are so broke that it will be worth the effort for the probable grants, but this is going to be the thorn in my side over the next few months.

Nope--you upload them as PDFs. Your parents will have to print out, sign, and scan their tax forms, anyways.sabanist wrote:Any more about the secure upload? Never mind. Skimmed over this the first time but found it this time:
Nice apostrophe error thereIf your parents' do not have W2s we will remove this as a required document once we receive the Federal Tax Return (1040) and verify there is no amount reported for "Income Earned from Work".
