Does USC ever give scholarship money with an acceptance or is it only given later on?

Just received an email from USC's Gould Law School encouraging me to apply for an ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship. Was curious if this was sent to all applicants, anyone else receive this email?

I think it goes to everyone. I just got it and it says

First, thank you for your application to USC Gould School of Law and we look forward to reviewing your application and making a decision in a timely manner.

So, I doubt they are selecting certain people.

I did not get it. Might be a good sign for you (although, I really don't know).

EDIT: Looking below, I'm either screwed, or the emails are still sending.

EDIT2: Seems to only be for ethnic minorities...meaning, not me...phew

The ABA Scholarship is for racial and ethnic minorities. This may be why some people didn't receive the email. From the application:

"The purpose of the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund is to encourage racial and ethnic minority students, groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession, to attend law school and to provide financial assistance to these students."

Ahh this would make sense as I am URM. Not sure about the non-URM posters who confirmed the email.

I'm not a URM for LS purposes but I am Asian so make of that what you will.

Also got the email. I'm Hispanic but not URM.

My heart skipped a second when I saw the email, I then checked my status checker and saw I am still Complete as of 9/23...

My status went complete on 11/12 then moved from 1st committee read(12/5) to 2nd committee read(12/10) in just 5 days. This seemed abnormally quick, is this usually a good sign or am I headed toward a quick ding.

My status went to Committee 2nd Read in 6 days but has now been stuck there for about two weeks and I'm above both medians. I'd say it probably doesn't mean anything.

I got this too...but I haven't even been accepted. My app is even still at Incomplete b/c they're waiting for my December LSAT score to come in.

Does this mean even with my October score they're inviting me to apply? I don't know whether to be excited or confused!!!
