According to Cardozo, the May program is a PT program whether it seems intuitive or not.

I don't know who you spoke with and maybe what they meant was that the smear semester is considered "part time" because you're not taking a full load of classes but once you're in the fall of your 1L it's most definitely not a part time program. You're just benefited by the fact that you already took a few classes prior to everyone who begins in the fall. You will still graduated in 3 years.JDHopeful111 wrote:According to Cardozo, the May program is a PT program whether it seems intuitive or not.

In with $40K/year. She didn't mention any stips so I can only assume that that will come in the package.

The stips are like top 80% of the class, I think. They tell you in the award letter what percentage of people from the previous year have maintained their scholarships and its very high.danitt wrote:In with $40K/year. Anyone know how open Cardozo is to scholarship negotiation? They've offered me basically a half ride but with NYC cost of living I'd need more to make it possible. I've been offered a better deal at a higher ranked school, hopefully that will get them to up their offer.

Fr the sake of the debate: If you're accepted at a higher ranked school why would you consider Cardozo in the first place?tony2167 wrote:Anyone know how open Cardozo is to scholarship negotiation? I am in a similar boat. The reason I would take Cardozo over the other schools, for me at least, is location and that I love the clinics they offer.JayJones78 wrote:Fr the sake of the debate: If you're accepted at a higher ranked school why would you consider Cardozo in the first place?tony2167 wrote:Anyone know how open Cardozo is to scholarship negotiation? Isn't the location a catch 22 as well as you're always tailing behind Fordham kids who themselves are tailing behind CLS and NYU kids?FallingHigher wrote:I am in a similar boat. Re: Cardozo c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Both schools have essentially the same employment statistics (about 50% in FT legal jobs, with Cardozo slightly higher in BigLaw and the other higher in public service). For me it comes down to location. Cardozo is in the place I most want while the other is in a place a never I imagined myself living/working (and wouldn't even be considering if they weren't offering such a sizable scholarship). Of course, like you said, the problem with Cardozo is being fourth in line of the NYC schools plus competing with all the T14 grads that want NYC. With that said, NYC is still the legal capital of the country and Cardozo's employment numbers are mostly comparable to the other schools, both higher and lower ranked, that I'm seriously considering. I guess the choice for me comes down to whether I'd rather go to Cardozo and know from the get go that I'm a small fish in a big lake, or move to a market that I really don't have much interest in or any ties to and be a big fish in a smaller pond. Right now I'm leaning toward the former. I'm hoping to find a way to get off the waitlist at Fordham, too.JayJones78 wrote:Fr the sake of the debate: If you're accepted at a higher ranked school why would you consider Cardozo in the first place?tony2167 wrote:Anyone know how open Cardozo is to scholarship negotiation? Good take IMHO. I was also pleasently surprised to read that Cardozo is in the T30 of the NLJ250 hiring list which raised my interest. I haven't heard from them but I hope I'll get accepted.tony2167 wrote:Both schools have essentially the same employment statistics (about 50% in FT legal jobs, with Cardozo slightly higher in BigLaw and the other higher in public service). It will be helpful if you post your numbers and if you're a URM or not.ashawnt wrote:Hey guys I got wait listed last week...what do you think my chances are of getting off the wait list and when should i submit a LOCI?

If you can, try to retake the LSAT so you break 160 and reapply. You might be able to get a scholarship then, at least!ashawnt wrote:So does that mean that Im basically screwed lol?

I have decision rendered and sent on my Status Checker. Does that mean I'm dinged if I didn't get a voice mail, or do they sometimes notify via snail mail for acceptances? I'd be surprised if it's a ding.

You're supposed to get a phone call first and then a package latter.wbrother wrote:I have decision rendered and sent on my Status Checker. Does that mean I'm dinged if I didn't get a voice mail, or do they sometimes notify via snail mail for acceptances? I'd be surprised if it's a ding.

Received packet in the mail got 10k/yr scholarship with no GPA stipulation listed, just requires that I fall their standard "disciplinary code".
I've heard traditionally Cardozo is pretty strict on their stipulations.
Was this a policy change or am I missing something?

So I still haven't gotten a phone call, but I received an email saying:danitt wrote:You're supposed to get a phone call first and then a package latter.wbrother wrote:I have decision rendered and sent on my Status Checker. No phone call, no mail, no other emails. I'm assuming I'm in, but does the lack of communication indicate I won't be receiving a scholarship?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
