Thanks for the info. How long did it take post-interview to receive a decision?blurose wrote:They asked me for the same thing, and a couple others on here of whom I know. I've also been asked at other schools, so I think it's pretty common. If you'd rather do a phone interview just ask, he's really nice about it. Also, as far as I know, the interview is more of a formality than anything else, so don't stress too much. Good luck!success888 wrote:wow a skype interview? i've never heard of that happening before...tell us how it goes and good luck!!

1. Does UCLA give very many scholarships, in general? I would imagine they don't because they are a public school but I don't really know much about this...
2. Has UCLA given money to anyone off of the wait list this year? I know this sounds like a weird question but weird things are happening with admissions this year...
Thanks!

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
I got off the wait list sometime around the beginning of this month and was offered 20k/yr. But my case might be more of an exception than the norm because I applied to UCLA with my dec. lsat score, but it wasn't until my improved june lsat score came back that I got off the wait list.

Do you remember how long it took them to get back to you with scholarship information after notifying you that you got off the wait list?ikle wrote:I got off the wait list sometime around the beginning of this month and was offered 20k/yr. I emailed them an updated loci the day i got my june lsat score back and they offered me acceptance the next day, and within another three or four days they called informing about the scholarship.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I just found out I got in and am expecting to hear back re: financial aid pretty soon (since I have to decide whether or not to attend by Monday). Got a fairly sizable amount from a peer school so it'd be nice if the offer from LA is at least in the same ballpark. LA is definitely my top choice.ikle wrote:I emailed them an updated loci the day i got my june lsat score back and they offered me acceptance the next day, and within another three or four days they called informing about the scholarship.

Do you have any sense of the class at this point
Are they still looking to take more people off the waitlist
Did they give you any information about that?
Thanks guys

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
Would it even be feasible to switch schools this late at the game? I have already switched once to a school I got off the wait list at, I've already lost those deposits, deposited at new/better school, gotten classes, a parking permit...etc. etc.
Am I even allowed to switch if I wanted to?

Yes, you're "allowed" switch. No one can or will try to stop you from withdrawing from their school. Whether you want to or not is another matter entirely. I would, and in fact did, but that's just me. IMHO UCLA is worth it.

At this point is there even anymore hope of getting off the waitlist? Seems like this cycle is over and the class is already full...

Admissions just says they continue to review waitlisted candidates every day....
Do any schools actually let waitlisted people know that their class is full
Or do they just keep you out of the loop unless you're offered a spot?

A few schools have told me they'd inform me during the summer if I were no longer being considered for the waitlist. However, most schools don't do this. They just keep you hanging until the end. I've heard many stories of people getting called during orientation when they were at their second choice school.

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
There should be a way to inform waitlisters about their status
It would be more efficient because it would help narrow down the list as well
Tough to finalize plans this way
Does anyone know if ucla is actually done filling their class ?....

I don't think they are completely done, although I think they are nearing the end. I was offered admissions today.

Is everyone that's getting in off the waitlist getting interviewed first, or are a lot of people receiving offers of admission totally out of the blue?
I'm going to remain cautiously (and perhaps naively) optimistic until August 13 comes and goes...

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
the trend is that you get a skype or phone interview, then you get admitted after. haven't heard of anyone who hasn't been interviewed but accepted at this stage of the game.Entertainer wrote:Is everyone that's getting in off the waitlist getting interviewed first, or are a lot of people receiving offers of admission totally out of the blue?

also, what do you all think of these articles:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000087 ... %3Darticle
http://insidethelawschoolscam.blogspot. ... pting.html
towards the end of the first article it notes that many law schools are still accepting applications far beyond their application deadlines, and such are still accepting them NOW. this includes ucla.....i feel this is betrayal to us on the waitlist.

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
For those who have received money off of the wait list, was this need or merit based aid?
Just wondering because none of the other schools I applied to offered need-based scholarships or required completion of the Need Access form so I'm not sure how this works. Did they notify you via e-mail, phone, or letter, and did you have to ask first or did they just randomly award you?
Thanks

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
Need-based aid basically doesn't exist anywhere. You might get a trivial amount of $, but nothing game-changing. How much $$$ do you have at USC? Will UCLA match? If they do, take that offer back to USC to see if they'll increase your scholly. Peer schools are peer; go wherever is cheaper is TCR.anne922 wrote:For those who have received money off of the wait list, was this need or merit based aid?
