Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2012
Hmm I didn't get the no more FT spots email, but I did receive one today stating that they will have a small handful of spots and will be extending "a very few" offers off of the Waitlist and wanted to (once again) super-quadruple-check that I was still interested. I'm currently on the "special" list.
Does anyone know if there's any chance of getting money off of the WL? I called a couple of weeks ago and they said WL admittances were still eligible for both merit and need, but I have serious doubts that it's actually possible to get anything.

Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2012
I also got this email (preferred list), and I am wondering the same thing. I'd be passing up a full ride at WUSTL to go. If I can use that to bargain my way into $$, awesome.CommoBlue wrote:Hmm I didn't get the no more FT spots email, but I did receive one today stating that they will have a small handful of spots and will be extending "a very few" offers off of the Waitlist and wanted to (once again) super-quadruple-check that I was still interested. Anyone else get an email last night from Gtown asking to respond with interest? I'm Priority waitlist, but not special, so wondering if this is another wave after they've dealt with the special group?

I'm SPWL and did NOT get any emails... but, I've sent in numerous LOCI and indications that i will attend if offered admission, so I'm sort of thinking that maybe there were a few on the list that hadn't given such strong responses, hence the email.
or i'm completely wrong and i'm just being passed up by admissions this year.
by Priority do you mean the Preferred WL? if there is another WL nuance that we don't know about, my head might explode.

Haha I haven't gotten any of these which probably isn't great. I'm on preferred wait list. Regardless of what Georgetown says, UVA is offering spots off of their waitlist which will likely trickle to GULC having openings

Merp, meant Preferred...too many words and still too early for me to be this obsessiveilly22 wrote:ricsllscir wrote:Anyone else get an email last night from Gtown asking to respond with interest? Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2012
Sounds like part of what they are doing is trying to improve the LSAT median in the PT program with splitters. It's a bit odd, considering GULC's contention that they really want to make sure people in the PT program would all be working and benefiting from the fact that it's PT. That was a part of their restructuring the relationship between PT and FT in 2010 I think.

So is it safe to say reverse splitters don't stand much of a chance?

Not certain. To go by all the things that people on the board have been saying they've heard from Georgetown, I don't think any of us really knows what's going on. Frankly, since I applied all the way back in October, I'm at the point where I've stopped trying to rationalize what's going on and have just admitted that all that I can do is hope for the bestnellie_bly wrote:So is it safe to say reverse splitters don't stand much of a chance?

Nah, it's like cooking to taste. They are adjusting and drawing on various people as needed. Just as easily, the need splitters so they can then add reverse splitters to complement each other's weaknesses/strengths.nellie_bly wrote:So is it safe to say reverse splitters don't stand much of a chance?

Re: Georgetown Waitlist 2012
oh snap.
nevermind.
just got the "it looks like there will be a very small handful of openings in the class" e-mail asking me to confirm my interest level. came from my designated SPWL contact, Erica.
[for the record, i hope "a very small handful" = enough spaces to cover everyone on this thread. we deserve it, damnit, for all our obsessing
]
it also included this, at the very end: "Thank you again for your continued interest in Georgetown and, once
we hear from you, we will be back in touch with news."
did other people get that line as well? and do we now think we're going to get decisions, likeokaymaybesoon?
all right, gonna go throw up now...
nevermind.

same. would it be too late or even worth it to send in another LOCI at this point? i've already sent in 4 (spaced out of course) and there's only one significant update that i would tell them about. there's only so many ways and times you can say "if accepted i will definitely attend"...weiweilt wrote:regular preferred WL, didn't get any email...

If you don't mind me asking, when did you send your last LOCI or indication of interest? I sent one yesterday, so I'm hoping that is why I did not get that email. Otherwise, it's because they're just not that into me.illy22 wrote:oh snap.

SPWL here. Haven't heard anything today, though my contact is A.Spada. Also, GULC knows my level of interest solidly following several LOCIs.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
