Walk down shattuck, go in each gelato place for free samples. 2 sample at each place, at least 3 places ... that's a whole gelato. and you just saved cash money.Worker and Parasite wrote:Is that a joke?Aspen wrote:I'm actually originally from the East Coast as well but Berkeley is awesome! I was living in San Francisco (in The Castro) for awhile and loved SF but going to Berkeley was always so fun. There's so many great restaurants (and the best place ever....YogurtLand!!!!), a lively young scene (which San Francisco kinda lacks compared to some East Coast cities but then again I was living in The Castro not like SoMa) and often when the fog rolls in its a bit warmer than SF. I really like the spontaneity of Berkeley/SF as well which a lot of East Coast cities lack. Also, the scenery is just breathtaking, especially when coming from cities like Boston, DC and NY. I mean just looking around and seeing all these natural beautiful landscapes everyday really relaxes you.catwomangirl wrote:Aspen, because you're a California person, I'm hoping you know this.
So as far as West Coast is concerned, I've been to San Francisco and Seattle. Would that give me a sense of what Berkeley is like? I'm a solid East Coaster.
edit: okay that was kind of mean but aren't there a ton of better "dessert/yogurt" places then YogurtLand in the Berkeley vicinity?

hey everybody, just checking in for the wait...hard to believe the day is finally here. I'm telling myself there will still be acceptances tomorrow but we'll see. I guess we should be looking out for phone, email, or status checker change?

No news anyone? I suppose it is only 9:40 AM on the West coast. Good luck to all if decisions come back today! Hoping for the best here but expecting the worst.

Decisions usually come out starting around 1:30 Pacific Time. Man, Eastern Time is seriously the worst. The best is watching election results on the West Coast. Last time I wasn't even finished voting yet in SF and they had called tons of results already.kennethellenparcell wrote:No news anyone? I suppose it is only 9:40 AM on the West coast. Can the OP change the thread name to Bezerkeley Faculty Review Support Group 2012 once we all get dinged and/or wait listed today? You know, out of spite and malice. That would really show 'em!

Your request may be granted, contingent on what Berkeley's response is to my application.Campagnolo wrote:Can the OP change the thread name to Bezerkeley Faculty Review Support Group 2012 once we all get dinged and/or wait listed today? Ugh. Knowing that a decision is coming in the next 6 hours or so is painful. I know there has been 1 phone call, but is it usually e-mails?
As well, is not hearing today decisive enough to know that it is a rejection (WL?)?

Looking at LSN, it looked like some, but far fewer, were admitted on the Thursday.EMZE wrote:Ugh. Knowing that a decision is coming in the next 6 hours or so is painful. I know there has been 1 phone call, but is it usually e-mails?

But who knows; could be different this year.

I'm working from home today, so I'm set up near the mailbox on one side, my phone on the other, and my email inbox open in front of me. Triangle of anxiety. Let's do this, Berkeley!
