Steering this back to the whole acceptance/denial/waitlist thing...
I've been "complete and ready for review" since 1/6. I want a decision!

I've been in review since 1/19, but I don't think I would attend even if I was accepted. Not sure why I applied since I really have no interest in PI. I guess I like wasting $60.

I had a Q if any of the new admits noticed this. I went on the admitted students page today to browse around and under tuition and fees it said this:
2012-2013 Full-Time rates per semester:
New York State Residents Non-Residents
Base Tuition $6,045 $10,045
Materials Fee ----------------$700---------------------
Technology Fee -----------------$100-----------------
Consolidated Fee -----------------$15------------------
Student Activity Fee -------------$40.85----------------
Total $6,900.85 $10,900.85
But in the 2011-2012 student budget pdf. it says that in-state tuition is $10,495 and out-of-state is $17,445.
Anyone notice this? I am hoping that they have reduced the already low tuition, but I am thinking it is prob a mistake?
Also, anyone know anything about the graduate fellows program? Do they pick the twelve students as they admit? Or does it come later when deposits are due?
I got an email inviting me to set up an interview for the Graduate Fellows Program. I got my acceptance on 2/3 and this email on 2/8:
"Based on your strong academic credentials and your commitment to public interest, you have been identified as a candidate for a Graduate Fellowship. We would like to extend an invitation for you to come in for an interview with the Committee. Each year, a small number of Graduate Fellowships are awarded to incoming first-year students. Graduate Fellowship candidates are identified from our pool of admitted students. The Graduate Fellowship includes annual compensation equivalent to full in-state tuition and a $10,000 stipend. Additionally, Graduate Fellows have the opportunity to work with a faculty member as their research/teaching assistant in their second and third year of law school. Hope that helps!

Congratulations! That's really great! Did you receive an e-mail from CUNY Admissions telling you that there was an update to your online status checker prior to finding out you got accepted?Jante05 wrote:Sent 01/07, in 02/03. I'm starting to think that being stuck UR since 1/4 is an indication of a rejection, or a waitlist at best. =(

Re: CUNY Law C/O 2015 Applicants
Don't worry, last year I applied in October and got in in April. No waitlist. They just tend to take longer with people who have borderline #s (I had 3.2/153). As long as you're around their medians and wrote about public interest in your PS you should still feel confident.Kess wrote:I'm starting to think that being stuck UR since 1/4 is an indication of a rejection, or a waitlist at best. =(

Re: CUNY Law C/O 2015 Applicants
Well my LSAT is exactly at their median and my GPA is above their 75th.... I don't my numbers are the problem. While I did write my personal statement specifically for them and answered all of their questions, I don't have that direct public interest experience.... I worked for an congress member one summer and did some volunteer work with New York Cares... that's about it. Otherwise, I been working for private law firms.
That kind of sucks that I may not know until April. Do you think it's worth writing a LOCI to make them hurry up?

I'm going to withdraw before they give me a decision if it takes them until April.

Re: CUNY Law C/O 2015 Applicants
Definitely worth a shot. I emailed them saying I was going to put a deposit down at another school if I didn't get a decision by the end of the week. They accepted me the next day.Kess wrote:Well my LSAT is exactly at their median and my GPA is above their 75th.... I don't my numbers are the problem. My application is "in process". Does that mean they're reviewing it, or that it's just sitting on a desk somewhere?
I applied back in 2008 and was accepted.

From what I was told by one of the posters here (via pm), CUNY admissions will understand the lack of PI experience if you're an undergrad or a recent graduate. So don't worry too much about it Kess. I have far less PI experience than you.

Re: CUNY Law C/O 2015 Applicants
This is true. I had arguably zero on my resume and I was accepted. They care more about what your career goals are rather than what you've done.fatpeopleavenger wrote:From what I was told by one of the posters here (via pm), CUNY admissions will understand the lack of PI experience if you're an undergrad or a recent graduate. Submitted my application 1/13 and been in review since shortly after that. I've been seeing all these acceptances for people who applied after me, congrats to all of you! Still waiting for mine though, lol.

Is the entire admissions department on sabbatical?
There has been little, if any, application movement lately.
I imagine they will lose some highly qualified applicants if it's true that they lackadaisically f--k around with people's lives until April or June.

I'm getting an apartment wherever I'm going (New Orleans, Philly, or Newark) in the late Spring, so unless they get back to me in a reasonable time, that's gonna happen. I want to like CUNY so bad too.
