Re: South Carolina c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Well i went to Middle Tennessee State University... Probably never heard of it, its a public school for regular kids. Not a lucky person with old southern money. but If that makes em feel better I guess...
White Male 24 yrs old with 2 years professional work experience and tons of extra curriculars throughout college.
Again im not saying that I 'deserve' to be in over anyone else, but certainly wouldn't chalk it up to 'old southern money.'
Just got lucky is how I look at it.

No. You got into W&L on your merits, not luck - congratulations, by the way! I don't know why my ex was rejected. The "old southern money" comment didn't come from her, and I'm sure there's more "old Southern money" at UVA than W&L. Probably a fair amount at Vandy and Emory, too, and they are far from insular. What's interesting to consider is whether the factors that found her eliminated from W&L will persist at USC.RaiderBlue17 wrote:Well i went to Middle Tennessee State University... In via letter yesterday! I applied on 1/13, and went complete 1/23. Oddly, I never got an online status checker. USC is in my top three or four schools, so I am very excited. My letter said that I would hear about scholarship $ in march

This is getting really unfortunate. I am still awaiting a decision and its my top choice. As each day goes by, the more unlikely I wil be able to attend even if admitted.

In the same boat as you, and it's frustrating because I'm instate and sent my application in rather early. Yet on LSN it shows that they're giving scholly $ to people with 2.9 gpas with high LSATs, I have yet to see them admit someone with an LSAT lower than 159 on LSN. I think they're trying to raise their rankings.bmili wrote:This is getting really unfortunate. I am still awaiting a decision and its my top choice. Pretty disappointed with them. Sent a Why USC essay with my app and sent an LOCI in January. Even communicated to them my situation and that I need a decision soon. USC responded they would get me a decision as soon as possible (which apparently we have differing definitions of what that means). Been accepted to both higher ranked and more selective schools. The vast majority of people given tuition equalization waivers to on LSN aren't even going to go to USC. Maybe we will catch a break in the next week.kmokeefe wrote:In the same boat as you, and it's frustrating because I'm instate and sent my application in rather early. I feel ya, USC and Georgia State are the last schools I'm waiting to hear from. It would be nice to have like at least a month to think about where I'm going to go before I have to start sending in seat deposits, since I don't have the money to deposit at multiple schools. Good luck! Hopefully news will be on the way soon.bmili wrote:Pretty disappointed with them. Sent a Why USC essay with my app and sent an LOCI in January. It seems like South Carolina offers nearly every OOS applicant an $18,800 scholarship.kmokeefe wrote:In the same boat as you, and it's frustrating because I'm instate and sent my application in rather early. I wish this were true. I still haven't gotten accepted, and am an OOS applicant, though I have spent the last 3.5 years here for undergraduate and would love to spend 3 more, but it would have to come at a significant discount.icecold3000 wrote:It seems like South Carolina offers nearly every OOS applicant an $18,800 scholarship.kmokeefe wrote:In the same boat as you, and it's frustrating because I'm instate and sent my application in rather early. Well don't expect to hear from GSU anytime soon. I was told that they would try to send scholarship info by April
. It was my 1st choice at one point, but there is no way I'm waiting till April to make a final decision.

So I sent them an email inquiring about POTENTIAL scholarship opportunities and have heard NOTHING in return. Anybody know where I can get a direct email address for Financial aid.
Sadly I had to send the email to just the usclaw@law.sc.edu address b/c I could not find an address for people in financial aid office

2 days is not long to wait at all. I think a lot of people underestimate how busy admissions is at this time of year. They probably haven't even read your email yet. Wait for at least a week. If the financial aid email isn't online, its probably because they don't want prospective students emailing them, but I think that admissions deals with entering scholarships anyway, so your best bet is probably waiting for them to respond.

Re: South Carolina c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
lol. Yea some schools make other admissions look really bad. I started to get offended when I didn't get personal phone calls for admissions before I realized that most schools don't do that.
But just wait it out a week, and then try calling.

Went from complete to decision mailed. Do they snail mail denials? I heard the status checker would tell you if you had been denied, but if you were accepted, they would send you an acceptance letter via snail mail. Is this accurate?
