Re: Wake Forest 2012
Greetings TLSers,
This is my first post, but now that decisions are beginning to roll out I thought I'd chime in on questions of general interest.
"Good academic standing" means that you simply have to maintain an academic level of performance that remains eligible to continue in the program - you can't fail out. While it is true that in the past our renewal standard has been top 2/3, we decided to implement this standard in response to concerns raised in the market regarding scholarship renewal policies. This is as straight forward as it gets. If you are eligible to return to law school at Wake, you keep your scholarship, the whole thing.
There's a question somewhere here about why we broadened our criteria for the first year class. Simply put we made awards to more that 2/3 of the class and thus changed the renewal criteria to make sure we didn't unfairly disadvantage our students in the renewal process. For that class we also only required that they stay in good standing and be eligible to continue in the JD program. Very very few of our students each year lose their eligibility to continue.
I am going to try to respond to concerns raised in this forum as often as possible, but if you have a pressing question or one that is specific to your situation, please feel free to contact me directly. My contact information is below.

Very similarly to every other school I have applied to, I am still not getting any news. I'm going to get shut out. I can feel it.

So anxious to hear back. Complete on Nov 30, 3.7/162. Now that I have decided not to apply to UNC, I really am looking forward to possibly having one great southern option!

Anyone else anticipating another round of decisions from Wake today? Last year the first round went out 12/10 and second seemed to be 12/20. This years first round was 12/9 so maybe some news today. I've been UR since 11/22, hoping to hear back before Christmas.

That would be awesome, but I've only been UR since 12/16 (complete on 11/25) so I might get tossed over until the New Year (understandably)panthersig wrote:Anyone else anticipating another round of decisions from Wake today? Same here. Although, it would (hopefully) give me/LSAC to update my transcript to reflect my final grades and the +.1 increase to cumulative GPA.ashley12 wrote:That would be awesome, but I've only been UR since 12/16 (complete on 11/25) so I might get tossed over until the New Year (understandably)panthersig wrote:Anyone else anticipating another round of decisions from Wake today? Re: Wake Forest 2012
Greetings TLSers,
Happy holidays! Just to alleviate any ongoing anxiety I thought I'd let you know where we are with things. We are planning to release another set of admission offers this week - about 140 offers, probably tomorrow. After that our plan is to release decisions every Thursday beginning January 12. Rest assured we are busy reviewing files and managing the process as efficiently as possible. I hope that by sharing our plans with you, we'll be able to reduce the stress around this particular question.
All of Wake Forest University will be closed next week for the winter holidays, but we'll return January 3, 2012. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to email me directly and I'll respond as I am able but no later than the first week of January. We've tried to anticipate questions in our correspondence. Any scholarship offers are outlined in initial admission offers both via email and in the paper letter that follows. We'll be sending out admission packets with additional information early in the new year.
Congratulations to those who've received positive decisions. To all of our other applicants I appreciate your patience with this process. We recognize that it is stressful for you and strive to give every application an appropriate level of consideration. Thoughtful and deliberate decisions serve us all best.
Happy Holidays and may the new year bring all you hope for and more!
