I got in yesterday (1/27/2011). Found out via status checker, no official letter or anything yet.
I already got into UGA though, so I'm not really considering GSU that seriously anymore. Georgia resident, so I'd get in-state tuition at both schools.

Have you ever heard of the library flooding. A thread from a few years ago said that it happens occasionally.

It may have happened a couple of years ago, but it hasn't happened in this past year (or the past 2 years, because I just asked a 3L). But it seems hard to imagine because the law school is sort of elevated from the street; you climb about 10 stairs to get inside the building. But it may have flooded from a pipe or something, so I don't know.

You said you live near Lindbergh Station. Do you normally take MARTA or do you drive? If you take MARTA, what station do you get off at and walk to the law school.

The schedules for 1Ls are pretty much standardised for everyone. All 1Ls have 75 min classes of Civ Pro, Crimlaw (2nd semester only), Property, Torts, Contracts, and Legal Research & Writing. It's pretty much a tough grind for the full year. Classes generally begin at 9am and end at 230 Monday thru Thursday. But you have to read for the next day's classes, which can generally take about an hour per class. However, RWA is the biggest pain because memos and briefs consume a disproportionate amount of your time.

Astute students can find about 1-2 hour downtime a day to do whatever. The majority finds more downtime but they spend it on facebook, gradually throughout the day. Also, you tend to goto sleep pretty early (around 10-12am) since you wake up at 7am the next day.

Most people go out on weekends I think. I've only been to one of the law school parties and I had a great time.

Oh yes, you have to study at both places (on campus and at home). I usually study more on campus cause I have an hour lunch break from my contracts class to my Torts class and I tend to stay on campus until 5 or 6. Then I go home, unwind, and eat and hit the books for 1 or 2 more hours before I call it a night.

How often do study groups tend to meet? Is it more of a weekend thing to do after wrapping up each week of classes or what?

It absolutely flooded in 2009 when Atlanta experienced all of the rain/flooding in the fall. There are pictures on facebook and on the GSU law's newspaper site, The Docket, if you want proof: (http://law.gsu.edu/thedocket/node/8)

The law library is indeed at the street level/somewhat underground in some places. If you disagree, then you have never been inside. Hence why there are no windows........

1a. By "stacked," you mean there is a mix of people across all sections instead of having the same classes with the same people, then yes, everyone is sort of mixed around. I have 3 out of 5 classes with the same people in my "section." So it's pretty mixed up I would say but you still notice the same people that are in your classes.

1b. I don't have any experience with PT teachers but I do know some PT students in my classes (which are for FT). Essentially, they are in your Property or Contracts class, but they don't take CivPro or Torts.

2. LRW is pass/fail. 72% is needed to pass I believe. Everyone generally passes, but don't take it for granted. You do have to study and know the material by the time of the exam.

3. GSU's curve is at a 3.0. All classes must curve to a 3.0. However, this doesn't really tell you much about grades in a class. For example, one professor may assign ALL B's (3.0) and 1 A and 1 C, which would result in a 3.0 curve. Or a professor could implement a normal curve and have them all gravitate towards a 3.0 with outliers "canceling" eachother out (for every A, give a C).

4. Clinics and what not are not really available to 1Ls because you are already swamped with work, there's nothing you could possibly add on. You have plenty of chances to get pro bono hours though, by volunteering, judging mock trial stuff, etc. Usually the clinics, practice, and other workshops are reserved for 2Ls and 3Ls, which is usually the case at all schools. You can't really work in a tax law clinic if you're still in the middle of learning Contract law.
