Weird... I feel like there's some sort of hivemind thing going on here. Just finished my post to see your response to my question.deadpanic wrote:Knuckles-
I really don't have a great answer for you unfortunately. I want to say that they don't re-allocate any scholarship money. definitely worth trying to negotiate with them at the very least. best of luck. if you have anymore questions let me know.

My status check went to "commitee review" today. To those of you that have been accepted, how long does it take from there before a decision is rendered? Im a bit scared. My LSAT is just below the median. However, I am a MS resident (I know they give some breaks to residents). I should be getting my Feb score back anyday now. Surely they won't ding me before my other score comes in?!?

I wouldn't worry about it. From what I understand of Ole Miss, they favor MS residents. And with a pending LSAT score, they definitely won't just ding you. I was in review for a week or two, and the status checker didnt even change to decision rendered until after I received my snail mail acceptance.jdl239 wrote:My status check went to "commitee review" today. Ole Miss is a great deal for MS residents. I just wouldn't be willing to pay OOS tuition for a year until I gained residency. I will probably be withdrawing soon, so that will open up another spot.

I with you Neidermeyer. 22k for the first year and then 11k isn't the worst decision you can make but other schools are more generous with waiving OOS for the first year.

Re: Ole Miss Applicants c/o 2014
Yeah, Arkansas, which is ranked higher and has similair tuition, gave me a decent amount of money to go there OOS. I called and asked Ole Miss about it, and they said that they really don't have a lot of money and that I'm right at the cusp for scholarship consideration. One of my friends goes there and loves it, and I'm sure I would too, but when I can go to Louisville or Arkansas for a total out of pocket tuition of less than 20K for all three years, hard to beat that.mpj_3050 wrote:I with you Neidermeyer. 22k for the first year and then 11k isn't the worst decision you can make but other schools are more generous with waiving OOS for the first year.

"Decision letter mailed."-today
Any thoughts on if this will be good or bad? On the upside, I'm above 75th percentile for both LSAT and GPA. On the downside, I applied four days ago. I did, however, send a "Why Ole Miss" addendum in attempt to avoid a YP.

I had that status, and got a ding in the mail. Then again, with those numbers and the "Why X" essay, you should be fine! I agree your late-ish app could be the only problem here.legalprincess wrote:"Decision letter mailed."-today

Congrats legalprincess!
Yeah, I was going to try sending them a letter to request either scholarship money or for them to waive OOS tuition, but I really don't expect them to do either, even though I'm above both medians. Oh well

Accepted by mail today while my status checker was still stuck at "committee review". At the moment, I'm leaning towards Kentucky with 12k/year, but Ole Miss is definitely still in the running. Barring a surprise acceptance from UTK, Wake, SMU, and FSU, it'll come down to UM and UK.

Can a current student give me some info on obtaining residency? I have to make a decision on UK vs. Ole Miss in the next couple of weeks and this will play a large role in my decision.

I'm not a current student, but ive looked into extensively and from what I've read it's very easy. As long as you do a few things (bank account, drivers lisence, lease, etc) you're goldenEricBerry wrote:Can a current student give me some info on obtaining residency? Re: Ole Miss Applicants c/o 2014
Cool thanks for the response, guys. If there's a requirement for 12 months living in MS, would I need to get an apartment in Oxford a couple of months before the start of the school year? Also, deadpanic, I remember that you're from TN and at Ole Miss for law school right now. I'd love to get your advice on my dilemma over here: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 1&t=149680 Thanks!
