I would say Midtown is definitely one of the best options. Midtown puts you close to where a lot of the action (i.e: bars, restaurants, parks, museums, etc.) is. Also, the Rice Village area is another cool place. I'm actually looking at moving in with a couple friends in the Rice area just inside the loop come July or August.

Let me know if you have any more Houston-related questions. I've lived here for most of my life so I like to think I'm pretty familiar with the area and may be able to help you out. :D

There are loads of for rent signs in my neighborhood (Montrose) right now. Drive around and call! It'll be cheaper than Midtown, I think, and also have cooler space than the pre-fab condo look (unless you're into that kinda thing.)

Does anyone know when we will know about scholarships, or if we should start negotiating?

I thought somebody said they called the admissions office earlier this week and it would be near the end of March.

I wasn't sure who it was, and was too lazy to look it up again. But thanks for calling them and getting the info, though!

Anytime. I'm really impatient about it because I don't really want to leave Houston, but I'm not taking STCL without $$. It's getting closer to deposit time than I would like, so I figured they wouldn't mind me asking.

I don't even have a job. Imagine how I have been feeling since November.

At least I've got my last semester of classes to keep me somewhat busy. I still spend way too much time checking status checkers, but at least I've got something that should keep me off of them.

I hope all of y'all that haven't heard yet hear today, and it's a slew of admits.

To anyone who was accepted but didn't receive the email:
I called the admissions office and they said it must have been as mistake that the email hasn't gone out. They are looking to see who they missed and sending the emails out soon, so don't worry.
And to everyone else, she said ASW is going to be in April, probably April 1-2. Seat deposits are $100, due 4/15/11 and another $200 due 5/9/11.

Yeah, the only complaint I consistently hear is that administration is very slow and understaffed. Luckily, aside from financial aid, this wouldn't impact us TOO much, and I hear the teachers are extremely helpful, bright, and good at what they do.

She told me on the phone they went "paperless" and everything was going to come through email, aside from some financial aid forms.
