Not necessarily. If youre at the median LSAT and the median GPA, youre good. Generally, the lower your GPA from the median, the higher your LSAT has to be from the median.Barbie wrote:Up to 164! It's still possible. See? I would still retake, though, if only to try to leverage some scholarship money or additional acceptances.Barbie wrote:Up to 164! BURN! Just fooling with you.
Dont let these numbers discourage you completely. Apply, put together a great personal statement and get your apps out early.

and mistergoft, I decided to push back my LSAT until December so that I can actual do some substantial studying. I'm submitting my app to UF this month with my 163. I don't expect to be an auto-ding, and hopefully if I get WL my December score will sway them otherwise.
That LSN profile does make me hopeful, and he/she submitted 2 months after I will have mine in.

Crap this new LSAT increase means my 3.88 LSAC GPA and 159 isn't gonna get me anywhere.
Good thing Im retaking in october.
I'm currently PT at a 164.
Any one else retaking in october?

I'll be taking the LSAT in October, although the increase in the median score has put on a bit more pressure. I am finishing up undergrad at UF right now, so staying here is definitely my first choice (loves me the Gator Nation). That being the case, the plan is to hit the books, count on some convincing LORs, and write one hell of a personal statement.
And hopefully the football team will shape things up. I'd hate for the admissions folks to be as frustrated as I am about their performance while looking over applications.

How should people with sub 160 lsat scores, but with a 3.9x GPA, early apps and good LORs do? I'm hoping well but the rise in the medians does suck.

I hate to derail the thread, but hearing this is really starting to annoy me. So UF had a sloppy game that was "close", big deal! It was the first game of the season, there was a new QB, new center, somewhat new (different) offense, there were going to be some kinks. The way people are talking about UF it makes it seem as if they were blown out in that game and committed 40 turnovers. Relax. Things arent one bit bad. Spoiled fans.KSP wrote:I'll be taking the LSAT in October, although the increase in the median score has put on a bit more pressure. Also, you probably have little edge being a UF student. Its somewhat of a soft factor. A very soft one, but it still gives you a teeny bit of points.
Good luck!

You're pretty much spot-on and I expect most everything will be fixed and in good order by Saturday. Admittedly, us current UF folks have gotten a bit too comfortable over the past few years. Ah well, makes for an exciting season.gdane5 wrote: I hate to derail the thread, but hearing this is really starting to annoy me. So UF had a sloppy game that was "close", big deal! Just wondering if anybody has applied yet. Also, is the earliest we can hear back November/ December? On law school numbers this is what it looks like.

I applied, but still have to send them some supplementary stuff. From what I've he ard from current students they give decisions november/december except they'll give much earlier calls to people who are above their 75s.

According to LSN, as long as its 157+ and very, very close to a 4.0, you would be good. There is one 157/3,8x ish who got waitlisted and then in, but that may be the exception and not the rule, because there is also a 158/4.0 ish that got dinged.ns77770 wrote:How should people with sub 160 lsat scores, but with a 3.9x GPA, early apps and good LORs do? Because of the increase in LSAT median and decline in GPA median, I'm thinking that UF is starting to put more emphasis on LSAT. I'm still crapping my pants about the rise because that means I'm no longer at the 75th LSAT percentile, which was what was saving my 3.3 GPA. But I think for anyone with a number below the median, regardless of whether it is LSAT or GPA, need their applications in AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE

I'm freaking out. Just got a horrible score on my PT yesterday after I had been improving for a while. At this point, should I only be taking practice tests? It seems like most of my mistakes were from reading carelessly and missing keywords or other mistakes that I typically don't make. I know this isn't an LSAT forum but I just had to get that out!

Yeah I think you are right about them putting more of an emphasis on the LSAT. Between that and them cutting their class size (I think they cut it by 200 people a couple years ago), it is getting tougher and tougher to get in.Barbie wrote:According to LSN, as long as its 157+ and very, very close to a 4.0, you would be good. I remember you said you were going to retake, and then I read where you talked to somebody and they told you not to retake. So are you going to apply without retaking?

Yes I am applying once my transcripts update (which could take forever!!!) and I am going to see how things turn out. If I haven't really heard anything good yet I am going to retake in December, or possibly February, to try to get some movement off of WL. If for some reason my score is significantly better (166+) Ill send out apps to a new batch of schools. For now, I'm taking my 163 and applying early... (LSAC gods please update my transcripts please please)

We can only hope! I just played around with the index and I'm in the WL zone this year. Crapola! Let me know when you submit!ns77770 wrote:Well good luck. Hopefully early apps can put you over the edge (I'm hoping it will do the same for me!).Barbie wrote:

Can you explain this whole index thing to me? I mean I know what it is, but how do I calculate it? I feel so lost lol.

It's really not too helpful haha. UFs this year is .029(LSAT) + .282(GPA) + .05constant. Then you can compare yourself against other people with not-similar numbers. So I can compare myself with people with slightly lower LSAT and slightly higher GPA, or vise versa, and see who is generally accepted, WL, or denied.
edited because I can't quote hah

my index is 48.4983 ... where are the others on a list that you are comparing to?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
