I'm probably on the same boat. Not cool! Probably means I'll withdraw on April 1 after I send in a deposit elsewhere.

I am pretty surprised that they just came out and told you that you were borderline. Did they specify that you were borderline for PT and FT or just FT?

I checked the "both" option and the admissions rep on the phone didn't specify which one was being considered.

By the way she told me to "call a few weeks before" seat deposits are due at other schools.... So considering it is 2/24, I'll call back in two weeks...lol.

Did you even go "in review" or just complete? I have been in review for over a month... 2 months if count my first date 12/21.

I just changed to IR 3/4, too. I haven't been IR as long as you have, but it's still annoying that it changed again. They are ridiculously slow.

I went under review March 1st and a decision letter was sent today. Is being under review for only 4 days a bad sign?

Nah; I seem to remember being in review just a few days. Then, my acceptance letter came a few days later.

I have to accept my offer from IUB by 4/1. Wondering if I should just go ahead and withdraw...

Rooks, I think you should take the full tuition at IUB regardless.

I most likely will. I just wonder how much of a difference being in Indy will make when it comes to big law opportunities (internships, clerkships, etc.). Given that I hope to practice in Indy, it is definitely a concern.

That said, given it is taking so long to hear back it doesn't appear IU Indy will offer anything close to what IUB has which will make the decision a non-issue.

Rooks,

I totally understand your concerns. I think some people on this site misread the statistics related to IU-Indy. Now I think the school is fine, which is why I applied, but IUB is the overall better school. Some people will point out that IU-Indy has more lawyers in Indiana than any other school, which is technically true. I would imagine that if you look at only "important" lawyers then IUB and ND have a tremendous advantage, though I have no way of backing this up. Further, an IUB grad that is ranked near the same in their class as an IU-Indy grad will have some advantage in getting a job, even in Indy.

I know there are people who say that IU-Indy is better for Indianapolis, but I think that a motivated IUB grad who demonstrated that they wanted to be in Indianapolis would have serious advantages. Where I live, in South Bend, I only know a few lawyers and they all hold Bloomington in much better esteem than Indy, even the IU-Indy alum. You got into a better school for free, and that would probabaly be the better choice.
