Is the Davis Status Check website not working for anyone else. It currently says "Updated Last: 3/4/2009 9:18:24 AM" and my log in information does not work.

I got an email. Then again, Dean Pinkney was around the world when she emailed me (2 weeks ago) at like 9:30 PT.

From what I understand they went to the waitlist three times last year. Once in late June, late July, then the first week of school. They do it in batches, not individually. So I think this is about normal.

Oh, because when I called Admissions to speak with Dean Pinkney (kind of an introduction over the phone since i live in Davis), the assistant/secretary said that she was across the world somewhere, but that I could just email her.

I think they're definitely tapping the wait list.

I've gotten an email from Vik Amar asking for more information about my level of interest, etc. And just recently I received an email from Sharon Pinkley that looks to be an effort to cut down on the wait list and see who is still interested and who has moved. The latter looks like one that everyone should have received.

So if you're still on the wait list hang in there, it seems like something might be happening.

Has anyone who received that email received a response? I was looking at past blogs/posts, and it seemed that people who got that email and who replied that they would attend, ended up getting a call a couple days later. I'm just curious as to what it means, and also for those of us who didn't receive it, if that means that we're out of the running?

Aren't you pretty settled on Hastings? Would you go to Davis if offered?

I can't say whether they would have accepted me if I had replied positively to those emails. Although reading between the lines, I would guess they would. I did take the June LSAT, and I raised my score substantially above the 75th, so I'm sure that must have helped.

In any event, I'm pretty happily settled on Hastings, so it's a moot point. Good luck to all those who are still waiting, though.

Wow, it seems like only a handful of people received the email.....Does it say if/ when you may hear something back from UCD?....Or when do you guys predict that you'll hear something? Sounds like it may be promising news- Im curious if everyone who received the email will be offered a spot.....Hopefully they move quickly!

They don't say they will get back to you. In short it said:

"This email is a request for reconfirmation of your interest in being considered further for admission to UC Davis Law School. We have your original response form indicating a desire to remain on the waiting list, however, we would like to know if that is still your intention. We realize you may have been required to make alternate plans and may no longer be in a position to accept an offer of admission if you are selected. We would like to use our time as efficiently as possible by asking you to once again confirm your interest in further consideration. BEFORE YOU RESPOND, please understand that this is not an offer of admission and we may not make a lot of offers but if an offer of admission is made YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A NON-REFUNDABLE SEAT DEPOSIT OF $750 in order to secure your seat in the class."

When I first applied, Hastings was my one true love. As I learned more about Davis, I realized that the small, college town atmosphere and small incoming class may have played to my strengths. In the end, I do think I am pretty sure I'd stick with Hastings, because the Bay Area is where I want to be and my preference for either school makes it a pretty neutral thing.
