Danieltorrey, this thread is titled the "TLS WL to ACCEPTED" thread- this is not your own personal thread for jotting down every thought you experience in paragraph form. since this thread is for either notifiying other users of one's getting in off a WL (which you havent), or updating users of particular WL-to-accept patterns that have been emerging (which you havent), you really should start your own thread....even if you dont get many responses, you dont have to commandeer this one...

.... you are the one who started dropping latin jargon and talking about being a real-life lawyer. you are the one who concluded that english as a second language is dropping your lsat from a potential 170 to a 160, and that 5 minutes extra time per section would have really helped you out (again, this is the case for everyone). you are the one who said, "I sat in during classes at GW, American, and GMU and I was able to answer 50% of the questions correctly-in my own head!"...how is this chain of implied-superiority statements treating us like equal colleagues?, yet, you accuse us of not being civil? again, none of this is relevant to THIS THREAD. go start your own.

you first asked for advice posing as a traditional applicant, then you added that you are a urm, then you added that your a lawyer, then you added that your applying PT, now we find that your not a urm, just someone who needs to go back to TLS-basics...i suggest starting with the acronyms thread.

you have a right to, but definitely do not need to inundate separate threads with lengthy, paragraph-form ramblings each time you experience a thought.....

your pages and pages worth of posts could have been reduced to two simple lines: "HELLO, MY NAME IS DANIEL TORREY, I AM NOT A URM, I HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL LAW DEGREE- WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR GW PT WITH A 160 LSAT?"

answer: "you may have a chance- anything else is 110% speculation"

i say if GW doesnt pull through, go take the LSAT again and kick some ass - again, please remember that this is the thread for "WAITLIST - ACCEPTED" candidates or for those who are trying to gleam any new information from emerging WL-A patterns on sources such as LSN.

+100000000

and lets be done with it.

Alright, I will be brief in this one!
Sorry for the inconvenience I have caused you and everybody else. My sincere apologies, it was not my intention to hijack this thread. About my profile, yes somethings were left out because I forgot about them as it is a complex situation, I was just having a hard time assessing my chances. I figure this would be the best tread I could get some input from, but I am sorry again! Just one last thing, the URM status, so people don't think I am trying to deceive anybody here, Lusitan is equivalent to Hispanic, but instead of Spain's connection, its of Portuguese lineage, both being part of the Latino category.

Sorry again and thank you for your patience, I wish you all good fortune in life!

Question: Do we have a general consensus on whether or not it is a good idea to send your waitlist schools your last semester transcripts?

If you're GPA improved, definitely 100% do it. if not, its a tough call. i imagine this late in your UG career it won't change much, so if it stays the same/decreases a little, they probably wont think much of it.

Then again, I was reading the book "How to Get into Law School" by Susan Estrich (USC Law Prof) who said that, during her time as an admissions officer, she would rarely accept people off the waitlist who didnt send there last semester transcripts in. she usually assumed they had something to hide.

i'm not sure if there is a good answer to this. if they request it, or your grades were good, just go ahead and send them in.

also, im not so sure how true Susan Estrich's statement was. And i definitely don't think it applies to all admissions deans.

correct me if im wrong, but it is the LSDAS GPA that is reported to USNEWS. anything you might submit that would hurt that LSDAS GPA would make you less appealing to the school you are waitlisted at. So, I imagine, if your GPA will go down at all, don't submit?

Median GPA: 3.68 Median LSAT: 169
25th GPA: 3.49 25th LSAT: 167

My theory is that schools have a goal median GPA and a goal median LSAT and probably one for % of URM. Our best guess is that they want to meet or exceed last years medians. In this case it seems that UVA is rejecting waitlisters with GPAs below last years median. No one has been rejected with a GPA above 3.68. LSAT scores are rejected all over the place, above 75% (like me), above and below the median, below 25%. Even elieli a URM with a LSAT above the 75% and GPA just below the median was WL--> Rejected. That is tough. I wonder what happened there?

If they accept anyone at this point is would be people with GPAs above 3.69 but like the earlier post said, they won't be doing it before summer. Since I am out at this point I won't be focusing on keeping track of this school but I encourage others to do so. There were 3 updates today on LSN plus mine. I'd imagine there will be a lot more data as people check their emails and post their info this weekend.
We can now add some data points to UVA. They have rejected many and accepted none. The data indicates that they are rejecting people with all kinds of LSATs, above 75%, below 25% and everything in between. The vast majority of the rejects have GPAs below the median. They also rejected 7 people whose GPA is above the median (3 of whom are above the 75%). Of those 7 one self identifies as a URM. Of those 7 all have LSAT scores at or below the median.

Very little data to report from Coumbia, NYU, Berkely, UCLA, Cornell, Duke, Michigan, Penn, Boston, Chicago, Vanderbilt WUSTL or GW.

Harvard has some action in the last 24 hours, there may be more later. I am not waitlisted there so I'll check on this again when I have time but feel free to add to the list and analyze the trends:
75th GPA: 3.95 75th LSAT: 175
Median GPA: 3.86 Median LSAT: 172
25th GPA: 3.72 25th LSAT: 169

tonymar127 171 3.91 WL, Accepted A
jasmoon U 169 3.8 WL, Accepted
lizzerbie 171 3.76 WL, Accepted
portena 171 3.98 WL, Accepted D
AKLaw 175 3.61 WL, Rejected
sunny63 N 166 3.8 WL, Rejected

The two WL-->rejects had GPAs below the median but two of the WL-->accepts. All of the WL-->accepts have LSATs below the median. It is pretty tough to say what Harvard is up to. If they got the GPA and LSAT scores that they were aiming for, and it should be easy enough for them to maintain last year's numbers, they can pick the people who are interesting and will add something special to the class.

As an interesting aside, I got pulled off of the UVa waitlist ... for next year. I've been assured a spot in next year's class, should I want it. It's doubtful that I, or anyone, will get off the WL this year.

According to the very limited sample in the Harvard threads on here, it looks like HLS made a URM push from the waitlist.

Waitlisted at:
Emory
Illinois
W&M
WUSTL
Indiana
UNC

Emory has rejected a bunch of people from the waitlist already...and they have sent updates telling those that weren't rejected that no acceptances were going to be made until after June deposit.

Illinois has said there will be "significant waitlist movement" during the month of May in batches of 15-30 acceptances

No word from Indiana, UNC, W&M or WUSTL...except that UNC's admissions process is from the stone age and requires snail mail confirmation of waitlist with barcodes and carrier pigeons.

heya... does anyone know for Columbia if they email you if they accept you off the WL? (obviously I know the chances are slim)

I'm traveling a lot this summer and was worried I'd miss a lot of potential mailings from schools (dare to dream)

From what I've read on the threads from last year, it looks like they would email you... :P

Just wanted to add some information about NYU waitlist.

I called and spoke to an admissions officer this morning and she told me that as of right now they are completely full. She said the earliest they would return to their waitlist was mid to late June, but said there was a possibility they might not use it at all.

According to posts in the USC 2010! thread. Dean Reid has stated that there should be movement later this week and she is looking to fill "about 20" spots.

Was admitted off the USC waitlist this afternoon.

Between myself and LSN users, USC seems to be looking for high lsat/low GPA splitters and they were looking to fill ~20 spots with the offers they made this week.
