I'm gonna throw my G-town wait list in there. I know it's not technically a ding, but I think it's worse, because they're just insulting your intelligence. I got the one where they tell you you're waitlisted . . . and then they tell you there's a special priority waitlist . . . but you're not on that one, you're on the shit waitlist . . . it's such a blatant soft rejection, I'm just gonna put it here.

Seriously! I got their "waitlist" e-mail last week... it's definitely a sugar-coated ding.

"As you may have guessed you have not been admitted to our University....blah blah blah...."
AS YOU MAY HAVE GUESSED???? I was NOT impressed with this dumb ass email rejection at beyond the last minute.

U of M > MSU Sorry, the truth stings.

UofM today, def. not shocked by it because numbers are low, but as a Spartan grad I'm happy not to go to a school where some of the students think that anybody who goes to "the other michigan" is a total dumbass. Thanks UofM, but I was accepted there for UG, but didn't choose you, and I don't have the pleasure to choose you again. Oh well we kicked your ass in football this year, that's good enough for me!

You msu kids always sound so bitter when attempting to claim that you really truly don't care/notice that uofm is a much better school than msu. Clearly, I graduated from um....my brother went to msu. I'm a much better person than him, no doubt. At least your girls are better looking?

We have carefully reviewed your application for admission to the University of Virginia School of Law. I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you a place in the entering class. I sincerely appreciate the interest that you have shown by applying as an Early Decision candidate.

Last year we received 7,102 nonresident applications and 778 resident applications (7,880 total) for the 360 seats in the entering class. This year's application volume is poised to increase by at least 10 percent. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be the most difficult year on record in which to gain admission to Virginia Law.

I hope you excuse the informality of this communication, but I thought you might appreciate speed over formality. In addition, we are communicating almost exclusively via email now in an attempt to reduce our reliance on paper.

That's OK UT. The thought of rockin a burnt orange ANYTHING would wind me up on the horrible cable show "What Not to Wear".

I also didn't want to spend the next three years living the real life version of the movie "Half Baked".

Um, I'm not trying to be Pollyanna here, but you already have Cornell and Michigan. You're golden.

Myself, I just got a Univ. of Colorado waitlist. Colorado, you and I both know that there's no way that I'm going to come to a landlocked, high elevation, homogenous, birkenstock shod, 40-some ranked law school. You were the one that was supposed to fly me in, take me out to dinner, and beg me to take a 3 year guaranteed no-contingency million dollar kind of deal while I kind of half paid attention and went for a hike. Now I'm forced to deal with the irony of not recycling the paper your flimsy waitlist came on.

Plus, you're named after a rock. There's lots of minderal particles next to water where I'm from, but our town elders were able to muster enough creativity to not call it Sand.

Would it really be in poor taste to ask an application fee refund? It seems wrong to me that you have to pay to apply somewhere. Have you ever filled out a job application or submitted a resume, and then given the employer a $70 check for them to look at it? Has any employer ever asked you too? No. But, for some reason, higher education feels it is OK to do so. Further support to this idea of a refund is if you do get accepted, they always add that money towards your payment of tuition. But, I didn't get in. So, what is that money going towards? Scholarship for other people to attend? I wasn't applying to help other applicants. A school might say something to the effect of "caveat emptor," (buyer beware) but I didn't get anything. What have I gotten in return? Not only a rejection but now I am out $70.

Not poor taste at all... I'd definitely request a refund, perhaps with interest even. I'd submit my request with a "why not notre dame" essay, for good measure. It's not even the highest ranked in Indiana anymore.
