wait...so rejections are coming by mail ? I thought this was via status checker....my activity still says from April wait list ... is it possible I got rejected and did not yet receive the letter? I'm confused...

No, I got a letter in the mail. Haven't looked at my status checker in months, though, so I'm not sure what it says.

Am still in complete shock, and can't wait to move to Philly.

(Recieved an email monday inquiring as to my continued interest etc, and quickly fired off a LOCI in reply assuring the committee that I'd withdraw all other applications and commit to Penn if admitted ; status checker updated to "Offer of Admission" this afternoon.)

Definitely attending Penn, couldn't be happier - before the call I had a seat deposit down at Cornell, but I'm withdrawing this afternoon. Good luck to those still waiting!

for the people accepted recently, did you think you did anything out of the ordinary to increase your chances and get a favorable response/ what were your numbers ? ive sent some loci's but no response yet ...still on the waitlist and dying on the inside haha

Finally withdrew from the Penn WL today. Law school won't be happening until 2011. Best of luck to everyone still on the waiting list.

Just got dinged from the WL via status checker so it looks like they are whittling down the waitlist even more

does upenn have a priority list like duke ... is it ranked at all ? i know law schools say waitlists aren't ranked but there's always a "special" group

I just got an email saying I survived another round of dings. Penn told me that they don't have a special group - which means that they don't give any clues about who is special. Surely they do have some way of prioritizing who gets in. In any event I am pleased that I still have a chance. The people who are getting in seem to have high GPAs and I have a 2.98 so I consider myself lucky.

My impression from talking to them a few weeks ago was that it was a pretty large waitlist when they started - several hundred. They don't know who is lingering on the WL. There are probably a lot that are planning on going to another school and just haven't gotten around to telling Penn to drop them from the WL. There is probably a smaller group that is using the prospect of getting into Penn from the WL and then using the admission to squeeze their top choice for some more financial aid.
Then there are the rest of us, in despair, sending groveling LOCIs, jumping when the caller ID shows (215), telling our friends "I'm going to school XXX, unless I get a last minute admission from Penn," wondering if we should accept second best or reapply next cycle, imagining that there is some way to overcome whatever deficiency kept us out this cycle...

Just withdrew my spot on Friday, also freeing up 20k/yr in scholarships. Hope it helps someone out.

any thoughts on whether the withdrawal of 'lastminuteguy' was accounted for in the "class is full" email on Friday? my gut feeling is that the "class is full" email was drafted on Thursday evening, so hopefully they are looking to fill lastminuteguy's seat...

it seems like someone was let off the waitlist today, according to LSN. Although, It could be someone who was let go earlier but just now has updated their LSN.

I didn't receive that e-mail that was sent out a week or two ago about making it through the next round of cuts and still having a spot on the waitlist. But...I also haven't been dinged yet on the status checker. Anyone else in the same boat?

Just got a voicemail from someone at Penn's admissions office wanting a call back. Has anyone gotten one of these? If so please let me know because I'm not sure what to expect when calling back, especially considering I'm not positive about my fall plans.
