Your post confuses me. You see, I automatically assume anyone who says "hella" is from Northern California, and since everyone I've met from Nor Cal has been from the Bay Area, I apply that location assumption as well. The Bay Area is not cheap to live in. So, I am left with only three possible conclusions:

1. You are NOT from the Bay Area, but you are from Nor Cal, thus breaking my stereotype of where people live in Nor Cal, thus threatening my existential understanding of the world order and creating confusion.

2. You ARE from the Bay Area, and you are just misrepresenting your CoL to make the rest of us jealous.

3. You are not from the Bay Area OR Nor Cal, and the hella phenomena has begun to spread. My confusion is alleviated, but replaced with overwhelming amount of concern for the future of mankind.

These are the things I have time to think about since Chicago is ignoring me, Harvard is MIA, and I only sent my Yale and SLS apps last week (and so I feel like it would be a bit presumptuous expecting to hear back from them this soon). I wonder if I can leverage promising to stop posting crazy tangentials in exchange for expedited application processing...

+180, UG I was doing $650/month (before utilities) to share a small 2 bedroom apartment with three other people. And I'm fairly certain I got lucky getting that price.

What's it like in this magical world you all live in? LA native here, did my UG in Berkeley, so my own bedroom for anything <$1000 would seem like such a deal.

In fairness, if I was getting my own bedroom in that deal, I would have been shelling out ~$1300/month. LA native as well

After that experience though, I have vowed to never share a room again. I don't care if I end up paying $2000/month in NYC, I fear for my sanity if I have to share my bedroom with a stranger during 1L.

Also, I must say I resonated with much of your analysis on the use of hella. And I'm sure you've heard this already, but your stats are incredible, so I'd imagine you'll hear back from Harvard/Chicago soon and have some sort of expedited processing on Yale/SLS.

Yeah. We just moved up to ten on the first of the year. Immediately afterwards my hours were cut at one of my jobs... Coincidence? Likely not.

I was pretty stoked with my score back in Oct despite underperforming my PT average, but now that I've discovered TLS and seen the difference 2-3 points has made for other applicatns, I can't help but wish I had taken December. Hahaha I love your ruminations. I'm going to allow you to prolong the distraction of waiting for apps and hold off on responding to any of your hypotheses affirmatively. But I wholeheartedly endorse your bid to leverage an offer to stop creating tangentials in exchange for app decisions

I think there are some cases where it would benefit me but, honestly, I don't know that a 173 or 174 *really* matters in my case - the thing that's holding me back is GPA, anyway. And I think that follows for a lot of splitters. I think with +2 or +3 points on the LSAT, I'm still looking at exactly the same schools (though, perhaps, with different $).
