I honestly have absolutely no idea where I'll end up, though thinking about it day and night has driven me (and my wife) completely insane.

ETA: Not sure whether I count as a regular...

Right now I'm feeling Michigan! Getting paid to go to Law School sounds nice!

I still haven't heard back from Stanford, Harvard, or Columbia yet, so I'm still undecided!

Have heard almost nothing back yet about $, so I'm holding off on doing too much imagining about where I'll be until that picture is clearer.

If I get the JS2, I'm likely headed to HLS. Otherwise, I'll be weighing taking whatever (likely modest) money Columbia or NYU give me vs. trying for a few points higher on the LSAT and trying again next year.

Yeah, everyone I talk to IRL is like, "Do you have a favorite?!" and I'm like, shhhh, I'm trying not to think about it until I have all the pieces of the puzzle in front of me. I don't want to get my heart set on someplace I realistically can't afford.

I didn't get that question. Is it school-specific?

Has anyone started to withdraw applications/acceptances? My original plan was to wait to make any decisions until I had all of my options in front of me. But at this point, given some of the offers I've received, I'm not sure there's any point in holding a spot at the "safety schools" to which I applied.

I realize this doesn't directly answer your question, but my intention is to withdraw decisions when I get word of scholarships. I at least wanna see what schools I can use to negotiate (I have some of my safeties as legitimate alternatives). Considering your circumstances, I don't think it would be abnormal to go ahead and withdraw if you are pretty much deadset and comfortable with your options as they are (leaving a few others open of course). I also don't think it is selfish to wait and see all of your options (since it's not even February). If you're getting into March and hoarding all the acceptances/money, then I'd be a little wary of selfishness. But if you are certain they are just "safeties" and not "potential alternatives", I can't think of a reason I'd keep that application/admission on the line (other than being lazy and it not yet being a necessity).

This. Maybe some people do, but I know I did not apply anywhere that I would not seriously consider attending (with the right mix of $ relative to what school we're talking about). There were enough places I am actually interested in that I didn't feel like I needed to waste 30 bones on an application I solely intended to use for scholarship leverage. I won't be withdrawing anywhere until after I have a better idea of $, since that is likely to be among the most important factors in my decision.

YMMV though, and obviously I don't have a Ruby on the table. Congrats WC, by the way! :D

The bolded is more what I was going for. I only have 2/12 offers so far for scholarships and neither are at my top choice, so I'm kind of forced to wait at this point, but if I were in your position, I'd likely drop some schools.

Thanks for the advice, guys. You've been helpful. I was worried about the selfishness aspect of it, and also would like to narrow down the number of financial aid applications I need to keep track of and such. (I guess laziness goes both ways.)

I think I'm going to take Lymenheimer's middle of the road approach. For now, I might withdraw from a couple of schools lower on my list, since even a full-ride there couldn't pull me away from the Ruby. But I'll leave open enough alternatives in case something in my life circumstance changes or whatnot. Maybe I'll contract a rare disease that requires me to move to a warmer climate.

To your point, EnderWiggin, I guess I applied a little more broadly because I didn't know what to expect from the cycle. I didn't know the Ruby was coming when I applied to the top regional school where I live, for instance.

I think they mean a short paragraph describing your background that they can send to donors and what not. I left it blank and figured I could submit something more polished to the school directly upon request.
Yeah, that's what I was referring to! The description was just super vague so I'm not sure at all what details to include... leaving it blank is fine you think?

If it's not required, I doubt they will give you a mark for leaving it blank. This is basically the approach I took (mostly since I had nothing else to add for some of the options).

This has probably been asked/discussed elsewhere, but are law schools in general taking longer with the decisions this year than in the previous few years? Or am I just going insane from all the waiting?

I've been stalking the school specific threads for months and commenting a bit recently, literally only just now discovered that this thread is where all the regulars talk. It...it all makes sense now
