Interestinggaleatus wrote:So, did some more data digging from last year's HLS applicant spreadsheet (had to fix it first, some of the analytics were very much broken) and compared it to this year, here are some interesting-ish findings:
So far, both the median and mean LSAT for all TLS HLS applicants dropped from 173 to 172.
Last year, out of all TLS applicants that filled in the spreadsheet, 60% had a JS1, this year it's 63% so it's slightly higher, but not sure if it's in any way indicative of the overall trend.
Overall, 67.4% of TLS applicants that got a JS1 managed to get a JS2 in the end, which is slightly below the 75% that is quoted by many but not too far off.
The breakdown of the JS2 percentages for different groups of applicants that got a JS1 are (i.e. below both medians, splitter (LSAT>50), reverse splitter (GPA>50), above both medians):
Below both medians: 72.5%
Splitter: 74.29%
Reverse Splitter: 60%
Above both medians: 62.75%
If you left out the "decision pending" JS1s, these numbers are probably overestimating chances. If you included all the decision pendings, they're probably underestimates. Hope it's the latter!galeatus wrote:So, did some more data digging from last year's HLS applicant spreadsheet (had to fix it first, some of the analytics were very much broken) and compared it to this year, here are some interesting-ish findings:

correct. as far as I know all interview requests go out by e-mail, not phone call. acceptances (JS2s) are what comes as a phone call.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:So if I got just an email interview reguest, no phone call, is that still a js1?
It's sounds stupid but I just want to confirm there's not a difference in applicant strength between those who got a phone call and those who just got an email
yuup that's how it is for everyoneDr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:So if I got just an email interview reguest, no phone call, is that still a js1?

Alright, I guess because it's called js1 I thought it was a phone call, I promise I've researched this...airwrecka wrote:correct. as far as I know all interview requests go out by e-mail, not phone call. acceptances (JS2s) are what comes as a phone call.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:So if I got just an email interview reguest, no phone call, is that still a js1?

I'll gladly take your interview request if you're unhappy it came as an email...Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Alright, I guess because it's called js1 I thought it was a phone call, I promise I've researched this...airwrecka wrote:correct. as far as I know all interview requests go out by e-mail, not phone call. acceptances (JS2s) are what comes as a phone call.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:So if I got just an email interview reguest, no phone call, is that still a js1?

Yeah i found this to be quite interesting as well. I didn't read too much into it, and I think the above medians doing worse than below medians was incidental. But I do think it shows that for people in the JS1 pile, whether you get a JS2 or not depends less on your numbers and more on other factors (i.e. softs and interview)hellohalo wrote:Interestinggaleatus wrote:So, did some more data digging from last year's HLS applicant spreadsheet (had to fix it first, some of the analytics were very much broken) and compared it to this year, here are some interesting-ish findings:

JS2's always seem to be Thursday/Friday, so I'm hoping for end of this weekkiwi50 wrote:I see the JS1s rolling in this morning! Any thoughts on when we may expect some JS2s?
Is JS2 wave typically in the morning or afternoon ?memphis7598 wrote:JS2's always seem to be Thursday/Friday, so I'm hoping for end of this weekkiwi50 wrote:I see the JS1s rolling in this morning! Any thoughts on when we may expect some JS2s?
Same boat, submitted late October. I know that JS1 waves go out until the end of March, so I'm still hopeful (especially because I know I'm a borderline applicant at best).sittykitty wrote:At what point does one stop getting their hopes up with every passing JS1 wave?

This hasn't been entirely true either this cycle or last, and because it conflicts with my own interests, I'm going to reject it as false while continuing to get my hopes up for even earlier.memphis7598 wrote:JS2's always seem to be Thursday/Friday, so I'm hoping for end of this weekkiwi50 wrote:I see the JS1s rolling in this morning!
