I knew the day would come when I would hear back from a law school and it not be an acceptance....... but I still didn't want it to be today! Oh well. It was inevitable.
Tell you what though, if I had a perfect LSAT score and nearly perfect GPA, I would not be handling this well at all. That's just crazy.

I can't believe this...
I am..but only because I submitted late. Seeing so many people with better stats got dinged really destroyed all my hope.

Dinged. Stats at medians. Stings, but at least I know I'm in good company. My condolences to my compadres.
It's looking more and more like I'll be in Boston next year (and no, it's not Tufts for me either).

Side note: the way I used "completed" in that sentence is apt for those who've read/seen Never Let Me Go.

If any of my friends get in (yes, luckystar and frozen98, I'm talking to you), PM me so that I can come over and say congratulations!
Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Re: Yale c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Heartbreaking losses yesterday. Trying to figure out where this leaves us who are still standing.
I submitted in October. It seems to me that, since I didn't get rejected yesterday, I'm not an auto-ding. It also seems to imply that my file has not been read and rejected. This means that probably they are not done reading my file. OOOOOR maybe they have read and I'm on the border so they are waiting to firm up the class. OOOOOR I'm in and they just don't want to disturb my busy lifestyle by calling me right away. OOOOOR I mistyped my email address on my application and my rejection letter came back via MAILER DAEMON.
But, most likely scenario, I have no understanding of what goes on in New Haven and my only option available is to continue sitting here, hoping and waiting.

I'm with you, buddy. Trying so hard to distract myself. I wonder how many people apply just short of, or at, the deadline and what their general profile is.rendlelaw wrote:Heartbreaking losses yesterday. Trying to figure out where this leaves us who are still standing.

As we obsess over Yale, does anyone think Yal-ay every time in their head per that Boy Meets World episode?
This probably outs me as someone who will never get into Yal-ay...crap, I did it again.

Does this ridiculous round of dings make anybody else think that Yale is looking for something specific and those of us with good but not unbelievable stats, plus very strong softs maybe have a chance?
Or do you just have to be 180/4.0/military/cured a rare neurological disorder?

They're also not super KJD friendly... maybe you have to be 180/4.0/military/cured a rare neurological disorder if you're a KJD, and otherwise they're looking for cool work softsFuriousDuck wrote:Beyond a certain level of qualification I think it's kind of a crapshoot. All those 180s were dinged because they weren't exactly at 250.
But seriously, I doubt being under is a problem. Mine was about 240 for what it's worth.

With last year's 1L class only having 19% being KJD that means a total of 40 people straight out of college. With the 75% being 176 LSAT and 3.97 GPA, conceivably only 10 people were enrolled straight out of college with 176 or better.residentemma wrote:They're also not super KJD friendly... maybe you have to be 180/4.0/military/cured a rare neurological disorder if you're a KJD, and otherwise they're looking for cool work softsFuriousDuck wrote:Beyond a certain level of qualification I think it's kind of a crapshoot.
