Can anyone please tell me the difference between being held and waitlisted? I received the "chosen to postpone your final decision" email, no interview.

if you are held they promise you a decision by February, which could include a waitlist. If you are waitlisted they have stopped reviewing your application until after the application deadline when they start receiving their seat deposits. You could be waiting to get off the waitlist up until the beginning of school in August.

They hold people because they are interested in you and want to admit you, but not before they get a better sense of the other applicants (which mostly include the December LSAT takers, I believe).

From what I've understood if someone says they received a letter after 3 updates, they are not including the complete.

The standard seems to be complete + no interview + 3 updates + no email (waitlist/reject) within 48 hours of 3rd update = acceptance letter in the mail. Also, complete + interview + 4 updates + no email within 48 hours of 4th update = acceptance letter in the mail.

Someone jump in if anything seems off, but that's the way I understood the stories in the thread, as well as what happened for me. Initially I was expecting a letter after my 4th update (i was including complete) and was disappointed when i saw another update a week later. A week after that I received my acceptance letter. So pretty much, I wouldn't look at the complete as an update as you may get too excited prematurely (which we all know is never good ).

To me: 3 updates post interview= decision

+1 I had the same as enjoyddyy.

It makes sense to me why interviewed candidates would have 4 instead of 3 updates because of the update to the person's file once the recommendation from the interviewer is received by Gtown. I had an update shortly before my interview request was emailed to me. An update shortly after I had the interview. Followed by two updates.

I'll tell you this as well, whatourbodiesarefor (hence forth to be referred to as WOBAF lol), I think that update to your address info is a very good sign bc I think it means they may be preparing to mail you something. I had the same update and received mail a little over a week later. Of course I can't guarantee anything, though.

The magic number is to convince these poors you actually want to attend and you're not going to take your 174/3.85 to a T6 (which is what I would do).

Just sent Georgetown an email letting them know I have to turn down their acceptance due to getting ED to UPenn. Kind of sad because I became really sold on georgetown as I looked more and more into it but I am stoked on UPenn. Hopefully this means just another spot for someone else!

I got an e-mail from an alum the day after I accepted the interview request. But I think I was one of the lucky ones; some ITT have waited several days or even weeks.

On a related note, what's the timetable post-interview, for those lucky enough to have gotten decisions? I applied ED, but I'm guessing the interview resets the 3-week counter, so I'm back in limbo
