For example, I got the 90k scholarship from UCLA, and the 1/3 off Dean's Scholarship scholarship (and in-state tuition) from UT. UCLA's offer is bigger, but UT is still cheaper after the hefty in-state reduction (55k for 3 years at UT versus like 60k at UCLA for out-of-state). However, 90k is more than the total cost of UT for in-state students (83k) before UT's scholarship...

Just got my Scholarship Letter in.
Deans scholarship ($28,500 over three years)
In State Tuition Waiver amounting to $48,000 over three years
Total: $76,500 for three years.
Still might have to go $100K in debt just to swing it....ugh

Let's see. I got the decision phone call on 2/22, then the packet on 2/24. The scholly letter came today. So a week.

I'll be there that weekend. I'm from Dallas but I've never been out in Austin. Let's make this happen eh? Not all law students can be lame... right?

This FASFA thing is confusing. I filed, got a report that really said nothing (not filing taxes this year). We just wait for UT to send us something?! What's the process?

Oh, yeah. There are people all over the place. The law school is nice. Doesn't look like there's a lot of good parking, though.

On Saturday I went to Townes Hall just to glance at it. I peeked into one of the classrooms that had some students sitting in it. The student closest to the door had his laptop open to the TLS website. I don't know why that delighted me so much...

Also, there did not seem to be a lot of apartments right by the campus available. Maybe the housing situation will be more open during the summer. I'm going to move in June, hoping it will be easier to get a place.

BTW people started releasing and leasing housing for the next school year in December. They'll have stuff left this summer but it may be slim pickings. Are you looking at the places right by the law school?

No. I think I'm going to live in East Austin, which is not super close to the school, but definitely close enough. I have family in that neighborhood, and I don't think I could afford to be too close to the school.kitkat450 wrote:This is pretty hilarioussarahmargie wrote:On Saturday I went to Townes Hall just to glance at it. Waitlisted:( Odds of getting in off the waitlist? According to the email, some years TX never even takes ANYONE from the list.

This is not one of those years. At least four people on TLS have been accepted off the waitlist already. Also, there has been speculation in other threads on this site that the roughly 17% drop in applicants will result in more waitlist movement.Aqua wrote:Waitlisted:( Odds of getting in off the waitlist? The LBJ School has a section of its parking lot that is free all the time. Then it's just a very short walk down the hill from your car to the law school.sarahmargie wrote:JustE wrote:Wild as in, great time?sarahmargie wrote:I'm in Austin this weekend. It's wild here.
