Next Monday marks three months of silence on my application.
How should I celebrate?

Nearly 5 months here. I don't think I'll celebrate until 6 months though...unless I'm celebrating an acceptance.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was just reading through this thick book GTown sent as part of its acceptance package and just had an "Aha Moment."
I'm in love Stanford. There is no other school that comes close. The thought of not getting admitted makes my heart hurt. I don't feel that way about any of the others. I might settle for another school if Stanford decides it doesn't love me back, but it'll always be number one in my heart.
That being said, unless a bunch of Harvard and Yale admits decide to withdraw their applications early - thereby giving me some hope at a bottom level waitlist - I see a ding in my future...

Could an LOCI hurt an application when on soft hold. Could it be viewed as just sending in a ton of documents to the admissions office or could it help? I sent in an updated resume with new work emxperience recently I should add.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
from reading dean Deal's blog i think a LOCI is helpful only if it has new information. Don't send a LOCI that reads like "I really want to come to stanford"...... I mean they know that. If you have something that u seriously think can push you from the soft hold to the admit pile, send it ASAP. We are in March...stanford starts to make most of its decisions in March and April.Chucky21 wrote:Could an LOCI hurt an application when on soft hold. On another note, does anyone in the TLS universe know what to expect in March/April? Will the number of acceptances increase from 1-2 people per week? Or is the dingstorm going to hit harder than ever?

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
This is pure speculation but if I had to guess it will be very similar to the process on the first go around -- some accepted, some waitlisted, some dinged and some placed aside for even further review. Most likely more people will be dinged percentage wise than on the first go around.sharktankdean wrote:On another note, does anyone in the TLS universe know what to expect in March/April? Hmm, I disagree a bit here. At least from what I've read on Dean Deal's blog, sending in an LOCI (even if it doesn't have new information) can signify that you are still interested in the school/taking an proactive stance throughout your application process. It doesn't hurt to express interest again after a couple of months of silence. It also lets them know that you're not necessarily set on another school.sharktankdean wrote:from reading dean Deal's blog i think a LOCI is helpful only if it has new information.
