I don't think schools should have waitlists.. it should be in/out. I don't think it's fair to students..we are expected to commit with seat deposits by certain dates but they can tell us to wait indefinitely. What if we said "Hey, X school that I've been accepted to, you're on my waitlist.. I'm not going to give you a $500 deposit to hold my seat because if these other, better, schools decide to take us we are going to leave you hanging...GOOD LUCK!"... Moreover it's kind of insulting and I can't see myself going to a school that WL me (excepting HYSC).

I see nothing positive about a waitlist/being waitlisted.

I too hate waitlists. It helps though to just think of a waitlist as a rejection.

I think we should write some cocky and condescending standard email about how because they couldn't make a decision, we will, to not attend. Everyone should use it as the standard reply, until schools stop it.

that would get us nowhere, elicit a laugh from the adcomm, and no one would care.

Welcome to an elite club! I'm pretty happy with it... wl at a top 10? that's nice =D
Yeah, I can at least delude myself into thinking that I may have been UVA material had I applied 3 months earlier.

WUSTL is starting to sound like a pretty good option to me. I hope they send out that scholarship info soon.

To all the recent UVA waitlists, when did you go under review/pending decision? Mines been sitting like that for the last three weeks.

It's true. It is actually more damaging to not withdraw, wait and see if they give you an acceptance, then withdraw. I think they love weeding out the not serious candidates for their acceptance rates.

in at vanderbilt yesterday via large box delivered to my doorstep. Complete 12/17

on the great WL debate: there are some WLs that I would happily ride through the summer and lose a seat deposit to get off of.

Could any of you please tell me how you were waitlisted at UVA (email, snail mail, etc.)?

Email.
Status checker also. My status checker changed before I got the WL email.

Email. Not sure about status checker, as I got the email before I checked my status that day. FWIW, I don't think my status ever said "under review," just "complete."
