I've finally reached the point where the 20 or 30 emails each day from law schools in which I'm not interested have stopped feeling flattering and started to get a tiny bit annoying. Thankfully, nearly all have an unsubscribe button.James.K.Polk wrote:Same here. Absolutely. It was fun at first, and I liked laughing at Arizona Summit, but now Creighton won't leave me alone and I've already missed Case Western's deadline about 40 times over.WinterComing wrote:I've finally reached the point where the 20 or 30 emails each day from law schools in which I'm not interested have stopped feeling flattering and started to get a tiny bit annoying. It's interesting the strategies that schools use in those emails. A couple of schools acted worried that perhaps they had the wrong email address since I wasn't writing back, and asked me to confirm that their messages had reached me, which came off a little desperate. I found it odd that they hadn't considered the possibility that I simply wasn't interested in their third-tier law school. It seemed like no matter how I responded, it would come off as impolite...James.K.Polk wrote:Absolutely. Truth. Why couldn't I have found TLS and scored better last cycle?Cochran wrote:Wow, last year was my golden ticket...splitterfromhell wrote:Spivey just dropped some pretty depressing news.

Certainly looking like more applicants this year, but at least at the top scoring bands, is it really that depressing?splitterfromhell wrote:Spivey just dropped some pretty depressing news.

I think the next band is relevant too.
2015-2016 cycle Highest LSAT 165-169: 1840 (+154)
2014-2015 cycle Highest LSAT 165-169: 1686
Meh. At least for people with my numbers, there isn't much of a difference on mylsn between last year and the three previous in terms of either admissions or scholarships. Perhaps 3-4 more students getting in overall.
Clearly it is not ideal, but we had to expect this and personally it's not completely devistating. Worst case we take another year and retake. It's not like LSAC announced they are changing/eliminating the LSAT or the government is limiting the loans we can take out.

Good point about looking at the 165-169 range, but even in that band it's still only about a 9.1% increase.
I don't think that the fact that we have a grand total of 28 more people scoring 170+ than they did this time last cycle is any reason for concern. Spend time worrying about other things that are actually within our control.

Spivey said class sizes were going up, not that that's good, but it might make up for the increase in test takers. It's actually encouraging that their are fewer lower score applicants, it's a baby step to starving out TTTT schools.Cochran wrote:Wow, last year was my golden ticket...splitterfromhell wrote:Spivey just dropped some pretty depressing news.

Waiters threads are fun but reading them knowing you're not waiting to get your score back is even better

I personally think it's because where you can be accepted to law school depends almost entirely on your LSAT score. My score went up 12 points and EVERYTHING changed for me. Plus, for the most part, I know which schools will accept me and which won't.schocolate wrote:I completely agree, but I don't fully understand why this is the case. I'm in the same boat. Increased my score 10+ points and became a whole new applicant. Plus I think the fact that most of us applied broadly, and hence didn't put all eggs in one basket (which is really all you can do with lsat), makes it easier too. Going into the cycle I wasn't sure exactly where I would get in, but I figured at least somebody would give me a shotHildegard15 wrote:I personally think it's because where you can be accepted to law school depends almost entirely on your LSAT score. Also the quote nesting. I do not miss the waiters thread quote nesting.

Finally got some apps in, and will be getting some more in tomorrow. I think waiting on applications will be exciting while waiting for an LSAT score was torture.
Also another big score jumper. Went up 14 points.

Re: c/o 2019 Applicant Compendium (2015 - 2016)
I've found waiting on applications far more anxiety–riddled than waiting on LSAT scores was. On the LSAT, I knew that what happened was within my control, and had a good idea of what I had done when I left the test. As a non–trad, and a fairly extreme splitter, I feel powerless before fate in the application process. The Abyss wrote:Finally got some apps in, and will be getting some more in tomorrow.
