I was completley floored when I got home to an acceptance letter (Part Time) today ... I only went complete a few weeks ago and had no expectation of getting in.
I am dying to go but is there consensus about the worth of attending sticker? This is so unexpected that I am reeling and trying to get my bearings! I've never even looked at this thread.

In today. Letter dated 1/28. I only applied on the 15th, so I wasn't expecting to hear from them so soon. 105k with free housing the first year. I'm going to end up considering some t14s at sticker against this... what to do, what to do?

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
GW might not really be 70K a year, but its damn close.
As for scholarships, what I think is happening is this:
They started out giving the 105K to everyone with great numbers and/or good softs and fairly good numbers. However, apps are up a ton, and they have become more selctive in the last month or so. They are now only giving schollies to people who have good numbers and good or even amazing softs, not people with good numbers but an essentially boring life (like me).
Hopefully many of those people who initially got the scholly offers will be attending GTown, Cornell, Duke, etc..... and once they withdraw then those of us who got in and don't have schollies will be considered.

Haha now that the shock has worn off, and I have had a chance to do some reading, does anyone know if GW offers any part-time $$? Nothing in my packet, but the letter did include the statement that I could be offered money at any time after acceptance.
I'm thinking about putting together an email for my financial aid counselor to ask some questions, but if anyone had any information that would be super helpful!

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
Not sure yet, but I have several options right now, and some with $$. I don't think there's any chance of $$ at GW if I get in off the WL, and I can't justify paying $70k/year there when I can go to UIUC or UMN for much less.BlankC wrote:Where are you headed for instead?NancyBotwin wrote:Just withdrew from the WL.

I sent my app in on 12/28 and received my acceptance letter on 1/19. Pretty quick response.

In via snail mail with $105,450.

Complete 1/20
Decision 2/04
168/3.81
I'm trying to think of a scenario in which I would not take this offer. It's difficult. I'm still waiting on Berkeley (which I think is highly unlikely), U of Chicago (ditto), UCLA (ditto x2), Fordham, and DePaul. I'm in at Vanderbilt but got no info on scholarships.
If anyone has any thoughts or is in a similar spot, feel free to share!

I'm right there with you. Right now, I'm looking at money from BU, Lewis and Clark, and the same scholarship at GW, plus sticker at USC, Vandy, WUSTL, UW and BC. I want to do environmental law, so the best school with a decent price is getting my vote, and right now that's GWU. I'm still waiting to hear from Berkeley, Michigan, GULC and NYU, which would make me reconsider a lot, but none of those seem too likely.td6624 wrote:In via snail mail with $105,450.

In at GWU w/ no scholarship info in the packet. Do I assume I get no money from them?

has ANY Early Decision applications not received a final answer yet??? I was ED and recieved notice mid-Jan that I was deferred to regular decision, but thought I was supposed to have a decision the next week or so with an answer, (accept/decline/WL). I still don't have one =(

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
My understanding is that there were three results for those that applied ED:kickincane21 wrote:has ANY Early Decision applications not received a final answer yet??? 1) Admitted ED with full tuition scholarship
2) Deferred from ED to RD, and accepted into RD in the same mailing as the deferral (some subset of which were offered a scholarship on the spot, some were not).
3) Deferred from ED to RD, and told that a decision will be made in the next 4 to 6 weeks. This was my result.
My understanding is that no one from (3) has heard anything yet; anyone who knows differently can correct me, but as its been 3 weeks since those letters, I would think we'd hear something 1 to 3 weeks from now.

Somewhat surprising WL with 170/3.9. Oh well.

Wow. I think that's a lot more than "somewhat" surprising. It's downright shocking.swm5057 wrote:Somewhat surprising WL with 170/3.9. Oh well.

It was a Dec retake from Sep (161), so maybe that explains it.Dignan wrote:Wow. I think that's a lot more than "somewhat" surprising. It's downright shocking.swm5057 wrote:Somewhat surprising WL with 170/3.9. Oh well.

It's possible. In past years, though, GW hasn't practiced YP. (Like Georgetown, GW has too big of a class to get away with much YP'ing.) But who knows?Veritas wrote:I'm calling YP
