It seems like their merit based scholarships are separate than the need based.

In other news -- did anyone else apply for the Hyundai Kia scholarship at Berkeley with their initial app? I haven't been able to find much info about the scholarship online and was wondering we can expect to hear back. Thoughts?

Do I have to fill out the CSS Profile before getting accepted? I saw something on here about someone worried that filling it out late would mean less scholarship chances. I have already done it but only have Duke listed because that's the only school that has accepted me so far. I applied mid January and I don't want to pay a bunch of money for the CSS Profile when I don't know if I will get in....

Sooo I went FR January 12th and was told that I will get a final decision by or around February 3rd, however this morning I recieved this email ( time stamped 1:57am)



I write to inform you that the Admission Committee has decided to include your application in a small group that is being held for further consideration. We anticipate that a final decision will be available on or about February 24.

I wrote a "why berkeley" and a diversity statement , I am also an alum and currently still living in Berkeley. Berkeley is my top choice!

Are you under like... FR2? Because your notification date is the notification date I was told and I just went FR the other day.

I met John Yoo tonight. He is a really cool and bright guy. He is a very nice person. I talked to him for about three hours. I sat next to him at a dinner that we had for him after he gave a talk at my school. He told me he hoped to see me next year lol.

so yall know I'm really about that life.

ack I realized I added the additional schools to my FAFSA but didn't actually submit until they kindly reminded me a week later. Hopefully it doesn't impact any merit scholarship award notifications since those start soon, and I'm sure all the FR people are applying now too so I'll get lost in the mix

I'm pretty sure the FAFSA is only used for need-based aid (i.e. loans), not for merit scholarships. So you should be good!

Yes, mine was mailed out a couple days after the email.

Yep they send one! I got mine pretty quickly, about 4-5 days after the acceptance email (I also live on the East Coast).

I live in SoCal and mine took a little longer. I got accepted via phone call on a Thursday and my status checker changed on the Monday & thats when the package was mailed.

Got it the next Tuesday I think.

I went UR on 1/4. Hasn't changed since. No FR...no nada. Should I just move on with my life? Reverse splitter.

I am in the exact same situation. At this point I feel like I'm just going to pretend I was dinged and plan accordingly.
