USPS mail. The envelope is more squareish rather than the small rectangular kind.

HALT_REPTAR wrote:Hey quick question.

So I was invited for an alumni interview and I said that I was interested in doing an in-person interview, but declined the Skype interview. My reasoning was that I am fairly certain that the internet at my school cannot hold up to using Skype and I'm afraid that the video and audio will be choppy leading to an overall unpleasant interview. I have just heard back and they said that there are no alumni in my area so I should reconsider doing a Skype interview, otherwise my application would just be returned for review. What should I say to them? Will it hurt my application if I turn down the Skype interview?

Thanks for the help!
I would definitely try to have the Skype interview. Is there anywhere else you can go for a better connection? Can you use an Eternet cord instead of just wifi? There's got to be a way around it. I think they do see accepting the interview as a sign of interest. Where are you located btw?

Aloha! Checking in. Received my acceptance on the 23rd. :) S/O is currently at Georgetown for med school so hoping to get a small amount of money to keep us from completely drowning in debt...

Just got invited to interview! Super excited. Does anyone know if this is for borderline candidates? I am a reverse splitter which would make sense.

Nope, I believe they try to do it for everybody (although obviously that's not the reality). Had a group interview back in October and got in within the week. Good luck!

They don't interview everyone, but I don't think there is a set guideline to what that means. I was not interviewed, but I was accepted.

From anecdotal evidence in this thread, it seems like interviews are sometimes for borderline candidates, but sometimes it just means you're in a geographically convenient area to be interviewed or they just felt like they wanted to interview you or etc.

The Dean said at my interview that they attempt to interview everybody (although a lot of schools have said that or something similar at this point) - I assume they wouldn't extend offers to somebody they're already certain they'll be rejecting, and the geography definitely factors in too, but it didn't seem to me to indicate anything in either direction. There are definitely people who were interviewed who were already locks, and I believe there are people interviewed who won't get in as well.

In! I'm sure he writes one for all admits, but Dean Cornblatt's handwritten note actually impressed me; it contained a few specifics about my application.

Does anyone know if there's a difference between getting a group interview invite and an alumni interview? I'm assuming not, but my alumni interview request email says something about "based on the strength of your application..." though I'm only 2 points above the 25%tile LSAT and >75%ile GPA. I remember someone saying a couple pages back their group interview invite said something specifically about geographical ties.

Also what does "YP" mean? My impression going through 11 pages of this thread was that interviews, at least last year, were primarily for "borderline" candidates. Thanks!

Congrats to all the recent admits! Question for you all, has your status checker been updated since being accepted?

I am freaking out over here because my post office likes to hoard my mail for a week before delivering. Thanks!

Nope! Mine is still the same as it was when I went complete.

I too noticed a change with the mailings section on the same day (11/20.) I am pretty sure that my mailings section got a bit bigger. My acceptance letter was dated five days after I noticed the change. No other change to my status checker has been made.
