Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
Waitlisted via e-mail yesterday. Submitted at the deadline.
Really surprised and will definitely see where this goes!
Also it's pretty funny at this point to be able to add Yale to the list of schools I've been WL'd at. (Chicago, Georgetown, Michigan) LOL. -__-

Rejected just now. I'm only surprised I stayed alive this long. Congrats to those admitted and good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

This is soooo very strange, but definitely not a bad thing. Your app seems to be stuck with the slowest FR grouping of the bunch.wheresthethesis wrote:Complete 1/7, still hanging in there

ETA: However, this also happened last year, and it was still just WL/Deny remaining.

Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
I highly doubt the wait is connected to FR. I have a suspicion that they have a stack of borderline files and are going through them to determine WL/reject and maybe a handful of exceptions that ultimately get an offer upon re-consideration/deliberation. I can't imagine that there are many people who haven't recieved decisions at this point.cc78 wrote:This is soooo very strange, but definitely not a bad thing. I would say faculty review is probably finished as well, but it is weird that my app was complete at the same time (1/7) and is still pending. Anyone else still waiting with an app complete at a different date?

Hey all. I've been WL at YLS, too. However, I only sent my FAFSA info to the school after I'd gotten the WL email, which is also way after the Financial Aid deadline YLS has on their website (March 15th). Yale is my very top choice, will this reflect negatively on my application/hurt my chances at an offer off the waitlist?

Sincerely doubt it will have any impact.CrayonBlintz wrote:Hey all. I've been WL at YLS, too. Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
It's hard for me to understand why they would wait on a WL/ding choice if someone has gone through FR and has a rating. Extending a WL offer is cost-less for the school, because it does not become an acceptance unless the person is actually offered admission. So, the WL/deny decision should be pretty straightforward--if you have even the slightest inkling that you might like a candidate in the right circumstance, just WL them.lawstudent2018 wrote:

Your suggestion that they hold a small cache of applicants to the very end who could get the call just makes more sense to me. Of course, who really knows what the hell they are doing? My sympathies to anyone who is still waiting.

Anyone have an idea of the deadline to submit the staying on the WL doc and an LOCI? I was hoping to possibly visit next weekend, which would help me write my LOCI I think, but if that's too late...

Hmm It wasn't specified in the WL email, so I imagine it would de facto be to submit as soon as you can... But if I were to guess, I would say it'd be reasonable to submit these docs before their deposit deadline at the beginning of May since they wouldn't go to the WL until then, right?Indy16 wrote:Anyone have an idea of the deadline to submit the staying on the WL doc and an LOCI? Also, the WL email didn't specify, but if you are submitting additional recs would it be better to do it via email or snail mail?

From one of the Ask Asha's on the admission's blog:

What does she mean by "release some of them?" Do they just change their mind about you and take you off the waitlist without notifying you? Would they do that?Over the next few months, we will periodically review the people on our wait list and release some of them, so the number of people on the wait list dwindles as we go through the summer.

did anyone receive confirmation of WL response, or some sort of acknowledgement?

I didn't (sent it via email). In one of her blog posts, Asha says not to expect a response/confirmation for everything because they only have two people working in the office...makes me cringe but what can you do I guess?qwertyTLS wrote:did anyone receive confirmation of WL response, or some sort of acknowledgement?
