YP is "Yield Protection." One part of law school rankings is a school's yield - how many admitted applications actually matriculate. It's in a school's favor, therefore, to be discriminatory against high scoring candidates it thinks may matriculate elsewhere.westave wrote:Oh I see. Erm... I'll actually have to look those up, I wasn't monitoring the status checker too closely because I didn't really expect to get in. I'll PM them to you. I do remember that I happened to check it less a week before being admitted and it hadn't been updated in a while, and I was admitted a few weeks ago.
What does YP mean?
And thanks guys!

Hey guys I know it's passed the application deadline but could I still apply? Would they review my application?

They probably would review it eventually, especially if you're above both medians and they thought you were likely to attend. If you don't mind losing a little money, and you really wanted to go to Cornell/law school this cycle, submit.adil91 wrote:Hey guys I know it's passed the application deadline but could I still apply? Okay I'll email them for a fee waiver, but my LSAT is right at the median and my GPA is below the 25 percentileSkool wrote:They probably would review it eventually, especially if you're above both medians and they thought you were likely to attend. Well if that's the case, you should probably wait and apply super early next cycle. There's a very little chance you'd receive any money if you end up getting in, and cornell at sticker is a terrible idea.adil91 wrote:Okay I'll email them for a fee waiver, but my LSAT is right at the median and my GPA is below the 25 percentileSkool wrote:They probably would review it eventually, especially if you're above both medians and they thought you were likely to attend. Nah, my parents are willing to pay for quite a bit of my costs and I don't want to wait another cycle considering I might not even get any money then. I could in theory retake but I'm a splitter and I don't think I could improve all that much on the LSAT.Megstew wrote:Well if that's the case, you should probably wait and apply super early next cycle. I briefly read through some of the past pages and saw that someone received an acceptance email at 4:30 PST. I went through my fourth UR date yesterday and feel that a decision is soon. Do emails get sent after their office closes or should I stop checking my email tonight? Haha

I had two days between my C4 and my interview request. I had three days between my interview and my acceptance. Don't get too anxious tonight, but if you want to be without checking your email set up your email to text you when an email from Cornell comes.hairbear7 wrote:I briefly read through some of the past pages and saw that someone received an acceptance email at 4:30 PST. Wow you're very lucky, not many parents would take on a $240,000+ bill for their kids. If Cornell is your top choice you should apply ED next cycle. With a late app and your #'s you're looking at a waitlist at best according to lsn http://cornell.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1415adil91 wrote:Nah, my parents are willing to pay for quite a bit of my costs and I don't want to wait another cycle considering I might not even get any money then. Anyways best of luck!

I'd suggest you start a thread in the "Choosing A Law School" forum to get insight on this. In brief: think about your parents paying for you to go to Harvard. Waiting a year is the solution. To not get us off topic, good luck whatever you choose!adil91 wrote:Nah, my parents are willing to pay for quite a bit of my costs and I don't want to wait another cycle considering I might not even get any money then. Disregard the above poster. Do not ED anywhere, you'll be unlikely to get aid.

Doesn't mean he shouldn't try and save them money.

I have a 3.4 GPA there's no way I'd get into Harvardnickhalden wrote:I'd suggest you start a thread in the "Choosing A Law School" forum to get insight on this. Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
does anyone know if I can negotiate cornell scholarships w my usc offer? or are they not considered a peer school? I'm getting nervous, I'm above both medians but haven't heard from cornell abt money yet and the deposit deadline for most schools is april 1st

Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
From what I'm hearing, no one admitted has heard yet, and last year it was about another week or so until scholarship/financial aid info went out. Just sit tight and you'll have a better idea where you're at before worrying about negotiating.Megstew wrote:does anyone know if I can negotiate cornell scholarships w my usc offer? or are they not considered a peer school? Is this a new thing? 2 years ago, hardly any schools had an April 1st deposit deadline. http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 7&t=205633Megstew wrote:the deposit deadline for most schools is april 1st

Exaggerated based off the schools I'm looking at. I'm mostly worried about GWU because if you don't deposit by April 1st you lose your scholarship offer and can no longer use it to negotiateLavitz wrote:Is this a new thing? 2 years ago, hardly any schools had an April 1st deposit deadline. http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 7&t=205633Megstew wrote:the deposit deadline for most schools is april 1st

Ok, well, in that case, you can always e-mail financial aid, tell them that you have a GW scholarship with an impending deadline, and ask them if they could please provide your financial aid package before then so that you can make an informed decision. Should probably wait until closer to the deadline, though.Megstew wrote:Exaggerated based off the schools I'm looking at.
