Interesting. I always thought that apps went through faculty review before a JS1. Maybe only those that had JS1s then go through faculty review? Seems strange that some apps would have faculty review before an interview and some after.fra wrote: Interviewer also mentioned that my app hadn't gone through faculty review yet.

According to JS's blog, faculty review is after JS1

This part from JS's blog is pretty neat.http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/admissions/2014/11/21/inside-the-black-box-2-the-admissions-process/ wrote:Prior to the beginning of each cycle, our readers review a small set of sample applications from previous cycles. We then meet as a group, compare our scores against each other, discuss what we like and what we don’t like, and we cross-check our scores against those actually given during the cycle last year.

For 20-30% of JS1s who get dinged, is that because they screwed the interview or is it more like having low numbers?

I thought the consensus was that rejection isn't solely based on the performance on JS1? I could be wrong!alphagirljhan wrote:For 20-30% of JS1s who get dinged, is that because they screwed the interview or is it more like having low numbers?

In this thread there are quite a few submissions within minutes of the app going live, real? app accessible and could be filled before live?

Just to confirm, the most recent complete dates to receive a JS1 was 11/13, right?

I submitted my application on 11/18 and it went complete a few days later on the status checker, but I just received an email today saying that my application is now complete. Is this normal? Seems a little late for the email...

I'm sure this has been answered before, but how long does it usually take between a JS1 and a JS2?HorseThief wrote:we need some of those JS2's asap.

My understanding is that there's very little if any consistency. Plus we're in totally uncharted territory this year, since every year for the last several, the first JS2s have been Thanksgiving week.hereisonehand wrote:I'm sure this has been answered before, but how long does it usually take between a JS1 and a JS2?HorseThief wrote:we need some of those JS2's asap.

Ok so time to start obsessing can basically start right after your JS1? GREAT!LetsGoMets wrote:My understanding is that there's very little if any consistency. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Because there are quite a few people freaking out every day around 4 pm when they don't get a JS1, I will say it is highly unlikely that a wave is sent out on a day that is not a Friday/Monday. Those seem to be the days they send them out, and typically it's a Monday. I'll take a bet and say there's a chance that the wave is tomorrow, but more likely the wave will be on Monday, per usual. So don't freakout when there isn't a JS1 invite in your inbox this afternoon.HorseThief wrote:Now we have slots on the 18th. I smell a wave.... But seriously, JS, we need some of those JS2's asap.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Just for kicks I went back to the beginning of LSN records for HLS, 2003-2004. The first acceptance calls were in November every year except for 2003, when it looks like they didn't start until 12/3/03, the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, which we're now a day past in this cycle.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I've heard it's around 2-3 weeks to a month for early interviewees (i.e. pre-mid-Dec interviewees), if they're accepted. If waitlisted/rejected, it may stretch for months....hereisonehand wrote:I'm sure this has been answered before, but how long does it usually take between a JS1 and a JS2?HorseThief wrote:we need some of those JS2's asap.

I wonder what's going on with the delay compared to previous few cycles though. I don't think the pool of high-achieving applicants necessarily shrunk too much this cycle; there seem to be plenty of nice stats there on the spreadsheet with good WEs, non C&Fs etc.

There are far fewer slots open now. May have been a wave.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I was waitlisted after an interview last time and had numbers at/above 75ths. I imagine being a K-JD was a major reason, since it did come up in the interview. From what I gathered on TLS last year, other applicants who got rejected with good numbers were mostly k-jds as well.alphagirljhan wrote:For 20-30% of JS1s who get dinged, is that because they screwed the interview or is it more like having low numbers?
